You can call me Griff. (Yes, I have a doctorate. No, not that kind of doctorate.)

If I've followed you, we probably met through FAWM, 50/90, or a filk convention (I was at Consonance, OVFF, and Loscon this past year, as well as all the Festivals of the Living Rooms). My big fandoms are Stephen King, Star Wars, The Good Place, Katherine Kurtz, Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, Dune, and whatever else strikes my fancy on a given day.

I'm working on my first of four planned albums - hoping to have it out in March! Keep an eye out on my Bandcamp for it. I'll be at Consonance, Seattle Worldcon, OryCon and Loscon this year, as well as all the FotLRs (IYKYK).

I have a YouTube channel! I’d appreciate subscribers.

FAWM goals for Spring 2025: 5 Stephen King songs 5 singer-songwriter songs 4 humorous songs At least one song with a key change in it At least one song with an instrumental bridge which includes not just the strummed or picked chords, but also the melody worked into the chords

I'm on #filkhaven Discord as Griff (Discord: blankslate_12815).

(I used DrBlankslate as my name when I first started on FAWM.)

Hi, I was reading through the forum post about 5090 not happening and I saw that you expressed sadness that it wasn't happening but you didn't actually ask me to add you to my list for a possible summer challenge. Do you want to be on my list? I'll just add you, just in case, and if you don't want to be on it, just let me know.

Hi Griff, you wanted to hear the demo of this one: https://write.fawm.org/songs/304501 hope you enjoy it.

Hi Griff... dang. I let your comment fall through the cracks. My apologies. I truly appreciate your kind words on my song "Don't Want to Be Friends Anymore". I especially appreciate your compliment about my guitar work. It was a little tough to be honest going that slow. I kept myself in time though by putting on a virtual delay pedal with a fair amount of wet channel and feedback so i can hear it. Once I'm done I pull back the delay or turn it off. Not a bad way to do it to overcome not being able to play with a click track. For some reason i find it impossible.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words. Take care.

Thank you for your kind comment on "You Can't Fight Mother Nature" (with Executive Orders). Unfortunately I have a scheduling conflict on Wednesdays. But I'm hoping you'll be on the Festival of the Living Rooms next month!

Hi Dr. Griff!! Congrats on getting your doctorate. What an achievement! I would like to one day, maybe when all my kids grow up and I can hone in and focus. Thank you for the kind words left on my song "Move Along"...I would love to develop it further and put it out on an album for folks to blast out! I hadn't written a protest song before but the FAWM community has made so many great ones this year I got really inspired to do so. It's strange times and it's a real responsibility for artists to tell and uphold the truth right now. I'm sure I don't have to tell you! Anyways, thanks for your words of encouragement and hope. Solidarity!

Thanks for your comment on "a philosopher's reflection". Glad you liked it. I noticed from your bio that you're based around LA in the USA. This song was inspired by the late Herbert Fingarette, who was a professor at the University of Santa Barbara ... almost a neighbour :)

Thanks, @dr_griff, for your comments on A Man I Don't Know, my collab with @sheslin . As a singer/songwriter yourself, you can probably relate to this situation. I love the way she handled the lyric, and I'm glad you enjoyed the song and let us know.

Hi Dr Griff, glad to see you hear again. I will have my demo uploaded as soon as they allow me to. For some reason it will not let me upload my mp3 file. But just for you entertainment, I have been working on a symphony that i do have up one Spotify, youtube plus. and I put up the link to it. And you can see the other things i have been working on there. I still have a lot to upload,
Thank you for your kind comments too. Carl
