BLOGGERY-------- 16 March 2025

See? I've cleaned my bedroom, thrown out the dirty underwear and I'm briefly respectable.

And for any soul who looks in here in these last doom-laden endFAWM moments, Thank you all and all for being here, and contributing, and listening, and commenting. It's been great. Here's to next FAWM! And I hope both me AND mine will be here to play.

Tim - you reciprocate by your mere presence on the planet not to mention your spam bot whackery. Thank you.

[avatar]

Hi, Tim, You may not even see this if FAWM officially "closed" yesterday, but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your comments on Our Own Private Love Song,my collab with @blainev83 . I was delighted with his interpretation of the lyrics, and he couldn't have been nicer and more professional to work with. Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed the song.

[avatar]
@saulius

Thank you for your comments and for all you do to keep this unique space alive. Until next FAWM.

[avatar]

thank you tim for all your music. you have helped make this a rewarding month in many ways. fawm over, but, like me, im sure wyou will continue to compose, so keep me in the loop regarding new released. i am enjoying the nocturne-heavy album. to quote david the psalmist, "it restores my soul."

@ambroise

Ok so : carefull, there's a greek and a turkish baglama. Mine is the greek one. It's basically a small bouzouki (the greek bouzouki, not the irish one). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baglamas

[avatar]
@nadine

Thanks for commenting "The Archer". You're most welcome. I also want a baglama now!

BLOGGERY-------- 15/16 March 2025

At the very end and discovering I need RAPIDLY to complete my tirades etc AND make sure they're copied to the soundboard so they come out in the archive. Okay, let's see. Lots more repointing, perhaps one day's worth still to go. The really truly irritating thing is, like good management, the more repointing you do and the better, the more invisible it becomes. Comparing notes with Penny Hillam who was the rescuer-restorer-mason working with her husband the jointer, we've decided Deborah and I have now enough blood built into the walls that we should put up or rather carve a name record in stone (not mortar, that drops out eventually) so that's a winter project. Headstone orders, anyone?

I've got to 332 comments which is good and surprises me, far better than 2024 FAWM which doesn't surprise me at all, at all.

Picking up better on viola and even trying violin again (never going to play anything fast ever, the arthritis is it although I'm trying alternate fingerings. My bowing is execrable...

Working now on resuscitating Cassandra! The global warming musical! (strike through "global warming", replace with "climate change"!)

This is my last hurrah, except of course if I get to zap a couple more spammers in which case I hurrah several times!

No change!

2 March 2025 Finished yet more repointing (these walls just swallow mortar by the bucket load) BUT ALSO managed to listen/read a few more songs, get the two nocturne palceholders replaced by the actual music AND ensure that @frontrowotago 's offered lyrics got up on the site. Whether or not I can musicate them...probably not.

Also the usual increase in spammers, scanners, bunco merchants and kind ladies fit for gentle men--subject to negotiation--to snipe off the site and keep one's spirits up as the outside world goes to pot.

[avatar]

Thanks for the comments,Collab and encouragement Tim, it has been fun putting my feet back the FAWM waters. This Feb has been a fun re-learning experience. Catch you next time around.

@mikeb

Thanks for the comment on 'Unknown'!

@beacon

Tim, just thank you for all you do as a mod and your beautiful music, and being able to do all this while dealing with home issues is amazing. I would really love to collab in the future. Can we plan on that next year?

[avatar]
@gb9

Thank you for your kind comments and thoughts on 'Shadow', it was a personal write for me, I definitely don't like the limelight and very few people get it.

[avatar]

Thanks, Tim, for your thoughtful comments on the musical version of “Beliefs.” I like the innocence/innocence-lost observation. Magic indeed.

[avatar]

Hi Tim. Thanks for commenting on Beliefs. I urge you to listen to the version with music. I would listen first and afterwards read the liner notes. I was amazed.

[avatar]

Thanks Tim for your kind comments on the collab that @catetaylor and I created. Much appreciated. Just noticed that you got to 35 songs ... that's quite something... Congratulations!

@gb9

Thank you for your kind comments and thoughts on 'Chameleon' 😀

thanks!

[avatar]

Thanks very much for your kind comments about "On Love", Tim. Liz is always great to partner with.

BLOGGERY 26 February 2025 Morning wet-bagging new-laid lime mortar. To Adelaide for Deborah to have her three-weekly Darth Vader infusions, pain reducing, happy oncologist still, we move on. But not much listening and devoid of creative oomph. Tomorrow is another day! Of bloody repointing...

24 February 2025 Alas, it's back to the repointing. This time my hands look like a roll of armadillos and have survived the first afternoon as a consequence. My temper hasn't. But there have been sweet music surprises to come back to (thank you @fearlessflight2014 ). And I'm finally well into the century club so my conscience is at rest. Sort of. For a given value of rest.

23 February 2025 Having recovered (I thought) from the Attack of the Killer Lime Pointing, I picked up my lovely new baritone ukulele to discover that I've worn off all my left-hand calluses...! Okay, it's action is set a little high but still within normal parameters and let's face it, nylon strings? I won't mention how my electric guitar feels right now!

@donna

Tim, the demo is now up for 'Perchance to Dream'. https://write.fawm.org/songs/317331

[avatar]

thanks Mr Chen. I just got your request for dropB access I think I have since rectified the links so this is not required (hope) but appreciate your effort!

[avatar]

Haha no worries Tim and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with C major. I find each different key we wrote in on piano create something new purely due to finger movements , and I was intrigued as I know I haven’t got perfect pitch with all instruments but with piano so long as it’s white notes (which is weird ) I can generally pick the key or note that’s played . Have a good sleep matey 👍

[avatar]

Thanks for listening to my sea chantey "Rise," based on "Drunken Sailor" ... I'm familiar with Percy Grainger's music, and I'm most appreciative of your compliment!

[avatar]
@cathreu

Hey Tim! I appreciate your comment on "Camp." Every sound in that tune besides vocals (obviously) were made with the acoustic guitar. It was a fun one, and didn't call for anything to complicated with the lyrics, which sometimes just works out for the better, often for me. Thanks for listening!

[avatar]

Ah. I fear I have spoken too soon. I've been called away on a family thing that will start tomorrow and finish a few days into March. Pointless account will not be in a place to create. Sorry about that. Maybe next year.

[avatar]
@kryss1900

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my song "Out of my mind"!

[avatar]
@cblack

Thank you.

[avatar]

Hi @timfatchen! Just dropping by to let you know I set @johnkaniecki’s “I’m Coming Home” to music.

[avatar]

@timfatchen Thanks so much for the comment on Grifter. I especially needed to hear the part about forgiveness LOL. It's that one line when you write a song that feels weird and BAM you caught it! I'll find something better, Thank you :)

[avatar]

Thanks for stopping by. I've been quieter than usual. McQ's funeral was on February 10th last year - the last of my one-year "anniversaries" of his passing. Sending beams your way. Thank you for stopping by.

[avatar]

Oh good, I was thinking of you and your dear one while I wrote it.

[avatar]
@donna

Tim, good to hear from you! Thank you for your lovely comments on 'Perchance to Dream'. Someone is working on the music at the moment, so I'm hoping I'll have a demo before FAWM closes. If I do, I'll ping you for sure.

[avatar]

Hi Tim, Thank you for stopping by and checking out my Faerie song. If you find yourself noodling away, and think, hey, that's kinda faelike, it definitely needs a tune. And, time is just a construct. I don't care if it's after FAWM ;)

[avatar]

Thanks for the comment on my song “Waiting on my luck”!

[avatar]
@ayais

Thanks for your comment on 'A Mysterious Force w Jil'. Funny, it seems wonderfully quieter with Jil's voice. @intoyourlight

[avatar]

I put my version of Quiet Respite up...

[avatar]

Yes, if I can remember the pointless password.

Stylistically, I haven't been a world away from them this year, even in my regular output. I'll just have to think of a theme...

[avatar]

After your comment - I have put Some Future, Some Past by @jongoldie to music. See https://write.fawm.org/songs/313965. Now I'll listen to some of yours...

[avatar]

I was going to post Rain Of The Sea but felt I needed to check with you first because you may be unimpressed with my changes. I'm so sorry! I've emailed the file for you to hear. My piano playing isn't as good as yours, but the trouble is I didn't realise how strongly I was hearing the harmony when I came up with the melody. So I've tried to move what you've played in places to meet what I was hearing, without fully changing it all. Let me know if you aren't happy and we'll go from there... 😳😬

[avatar]

Glad you could relate to my first love camp song! Thanks for your nice comment!

18 February 2025 With the damaged fingers bound so they won't bleeeeeed all over the keys, but still not capable of finger picking, and with Deborah away at her AttilaHenScrabble, I sat down to do a descant to "Westering Home", which should also work on its own, with a view to folksy words later, writ it out in notation in a proper book, then failed dismally and instead comae up with three (3) neoclassical improvisations, all keepers, and two songs, one to my lyric, one to @frontrowotago 's lyrics. And cleaned the kitchen again. So now everything is screaming, feet too.

16 February 2025 Repointing is finished for the moment and everything hurts. Devoid of inspiration but I heard a lovely ambient from @mordoom and thought " now I should do something ambient. Haven't for ages." Indeed. So long past that I've lost all track of how to set the DAW up to cope with three separate keyboards, multiple synths and still record the MIDI as well as the sound. A terrible mess, and I realise I hadn't done any such since before the operatic disasters, and subsequently hauling myself back like mending a once-valuable but still cherished bit of shattered porcelain, concentrating more on song and single instruments. SIgh. Perhaps some things have their time. I don't ski anymore, either..

[avatar]

My excuse for a second singer in the Soliloquy was that Hamlet's mind had already been "oe'r thrown" and he was hearing voices 😁

[avatar]

Thank you for the heartfelt and thoughtful comments - this is my first FAWM experience and it means a lot to know that the lyrics resonated. I'll definitely post the lyrics as soon as I get a chance - and thanks again for the support!

[avatar]

Hey thanks for checking out 'Simon Says Casio" I am happy that you were able to enjoy it despite your justified disappointment! I have some other tracks up that do feature a Casio CZ230s, so it's not all talk :)

[avatar]
@scubed

Tim, thank you so very much for your kind and heartening comments. I really appreciate it.

[avatar]

Thank you for taking the time to listen to some on my work.

[avatar]
@phylo

Tim, thanks for your kind words for The Boat Namer. Yes, I've heard that a boat is just a big hole in the water that you throw money into. But anything regarding the sea is just so romantic.

[avatar]

Thanks for commenting on "A Pleasure to Burn!" The director is pretty happy so far!

[avatar]

Looking forward to the Overland ballad. (One of these days I'll get around to riding the Ghan, though I hear it's turned a bit touristy.)
