End of Days Pt 2

So, this year I'm trying to write two albums - one of my bread-and-butter guitar/new wave/grunge/alt-pop stuff, and a second one that's more experimental and tells a story about a woman whose consciousness becomes unstuck in time, a passing alien probe which astronomers mistake for an interstellar comet, virtual reality, the fear of death... and Stonehenge. Yeah, I'm going all Rick Wakeman, got a problem with that?

This tune (for want of a better word) is part of that second album. It's an instrumental - school goes back on Monday, so I'll get to recording proper songs with vocals then!

It's a pretty strange way for me to start FAWM - with a funereal dirge - and absolutely not indicative of what's likely to come... except for perhaps Pt 1.

For those interested... this track uses Native Instruments' Cloud Supply and Analog Dreams libraries, plus a timpani from their factory collections, and some random drum loop from a collection I probably downloaded 15 years ago; there's also a tape echo in there. Processing includes Waves' Curves Equator, Retro-Fi, Abbey Road TG12345 console, UAD's LA-2A, Studer tape, Ampex tape, IK Bus Compressor, One and Stealth Limiter.

I love your blend of genres in this song. Almost seems like a Viking funeral boat sailing into a time portal. The drums were a great choice

Wow the song was already full of fantastic voices but then those very simple drums kicked in and grabbed me by the nose hairs. Very conematic.

Enjoyed the sound choices. Menacing vibe but a shifted through the number. I like the drums coming in at 1:10. Gives the second half a new momentum.

Moody; dramatic; portentous of what to come. I gather this isn't meant as an overture, but it definitely piques the listener's interest and makes me want to learn more about what's to come!

I'll have to check out Cloud Supply. I like Analog Dreams. This is a fun track. Definitely enjoyed my listen!

Quite atmospheric / spacey intro. Some great synth sounds and I like the melody played on the synth. Definitely fits with the alien probe theme.
