Lyrics
I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning No-one's up, they're all sleep And this house is boring I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning
I don't know why I Can't get back to sleep I toss and turn all night
I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning No-one's up, they're all sleep And this house is boring I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning
The wife's gotta go to work So she needs to rest She has things to do
I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning No-one's up, they're all sleep And this house is boring I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning
Even the dogs know To stay in bed To stay in bed for a while
I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning No-one's up, they're all sleep And this house is boring I don't want to be awake At four o'clock in the morning

I was lying awake at 3am last night, thinking I should write a song about insomnia. Turns out I don’t have to now, as you’ve done a beautiful job here! Love the line about the sleeping dogs.
My wife nodded about this one! Happens to her often! Write a song I say!
Wow, when the dogs stay down, you KNOW you're up too early. Love the quiet delivery, actually, as it drives the point home. Well done! Hopefully you can get some rest now that the song is released.
One of my habits as well, getting older sometimes requires one to be awake to use the facilities, hmm. Nice strum on the uke. Big points for the word quietude in liner notes too.
Ugh! too relatable! I like the repetition, almost like counting sheep but no sleep! Great write TC! At work, can't listen but will tonight!
Any interest in a collab? I Just posted a sailing song that came to me this morning on the drive in. Praying for Clear Sailing.

I love the folky feel to this (and appreciate the suspended chords here!). It's simple, but really effective.
