Time is a Tortoise

Liner Notes
This is a song idea that I've been working off and on for years, I've never been happy with what I've come up with. I feel I'm lacking in the skills to properly do it justice. This version is the closest I can get to that for now, maybe in the future it might evolve even more until the muse can be satisfied.

Lyrics
Time is a tortoise
Woke up this morning, Turned up the heat Splashed some water on my face, then I brushed my teeth Fed the cats and ignore the morning news There’s no point in doing anything without you
Time is a tortoise, A slow burn, A fish on the ocean surface Time is important, we all yearn to spend it with a bigger purpose but without you, without you Time doesn’t exist
Still find I’m looking, to move closer Confetti questions in the air, is not really closure My regrets, leave me shaking in this pew There’s no point in doing anything without you
Time is a tortoise, A slow burn, A fish on the ocean surface Time is important, we all yearn to spend it with a bigger purpose but without you, without you Time doesn’t exist
Now here I’m sitting, right on the edge Surrendering what I don’t dare, I’ll wait for you Every breath I still have left I’ll always choose There’s no point in doing anything without you
Time is a tortoise, A slow burn, A fish on the ocean surface Time is important, we all yearn to spend it with a bigger purpose but without you, without you Time doesn’t exist

Love that chorus -- all the ways to talk about love being slow, and slowing down "without you" (and so, in a way, time doesn't exist). And, yes, "Confetti questions" is an amazing and evocative image.
These are some brilliant lyrics -- I love "confetti questions in the air" I also like the inner rhyme of tortoise and important - it makes a nice cadence. The metaphor is poignant; having suffered a recent loss, I can relate to the slow passage of time and the struggle to find purpose. And you sing it like you mean it! #tit4tat
I love your lyrics here. The time/tortoise analogy is fab. The work you've put in on them is very evident. Chords are great. The vocal does need some work, but it's definitely worth persevering with it. Perhaps finding a collaborator with good production skills might work well for you. :-) #tit4tat
love the chorus. The first verse is very strong too.
This is a great comparison about time being a tortoise. You've written some powerful heartfelt lyrics.
I loved this.
