I keep thinking I'm going to run out of protest songs, but so far, the ideas are coming fast and furious (emphasis on furious, I suppose). Obviously, the narrator here is a caricature, but hopefully he is making a point.

Verse 1 The world I know is a'slippin' away from me. I don't know why, but that makes me so angry. You can't get a job less you're some "coastal elite." Makes me wanna burn down everything I see. Family values have been dragged right through the dirt. I hope the folks responsible feel nothin' but hurt. A man should wear pants, and a woman should wear a skirt. And if you mess with God's will, you'll get your just desserts.

Verse 2 I believe that what makes this country great Is it was built by folks like me, who were white and straight. If it's up to me, there ain't gonna be no debate Cuz our policies'll make everything top rate. But I thought that I was gonna pay less for eggs and gas, And I thought that I was gonna get a break on my tax. It's kind of amazing that so much of the hook is true -- the only thing that matters actually is owning the libs, as their home burns and their world crashes around them.... but they won't notice, just yet.
It's fun to write from that perspective, too... I've done a few that way this year. And I'll double @cainlin's praise for the Johnny Cash vibe!

Wonderful caricature. FAWM has been a treasure-trove of protest/political songs this year. I'm truly happy that the FAWM community has been a bright and safe space to be during these dark times. Keep 'em coming!
