Own This Town

Liner Notes
My 6th FAWM song this year. I'm not sure if I'll post everything this year.
This is the most country song I ever wrote.
I came across the first verse and notes on the chord progression and riff and then tried to finish it. I think the second verse should have a 'curve' reference as a callback to the first verse, but I didn't force it in.
It's rough, but I think it came together nicely. Lots of potential on this one.
Lyrics
Verse: D - riff - G Riff: D-E-D (on third string | String) Blazing around on the back roads I drive a little too fast I know the roads and I know the curves So I'm never gonna crash Ever since we were sixteen We've been finding our way around No one could touch us then Cause we owned this town
Chorus: (A) We own this town (G) together (A) We own this town (G) forever (Bm) Backs (A) against the (G) ground We own this town
Verse 2: I remember the day I first saw you I had to make you mine King and Queen of the Prom Oh lord you looked so fine The very first kiss that we had Knocked me to the ground No one could touch us then
Verse 3 (Bridge) (A) Twenty years have passed is by (Bm) Looking at our kids as they start to drive (A) All the wonders out to be found (Bm) I know they'll (A) own this (G) town

Oh wow, I'm laughing and loving this. It's such a perfect example of the prom couple song, and I love it for that. The sentiment at the beginning--about knowing the roads so well, "I'm never going to crash" was great characterization for the perspective. It had a good swing/sway to it.
Absolutely fabulous with a cool contemporary country feel. Fantastic story telling that captures those young years of feeling on top of the world. Relatable nostalgic feel. Love that hook! Cool guitar riff and awesome vocals!
