The melody and chords greatly compliment this blue song. Reminds me of the song Everybody's Talkin at Me. I like it! And I like the parallel structure of the lines "the saddest ____ of the ____". Maybe add "saddest hour of the day", and work out from there to saddest "year of my life " - just a thought.
