Hang Me Up

Tfish: I started this one all the way back during FAWM 2024, based around this super cool synth guitar lick I wrote, then exported as a sample. I took the sample, time-warped it to the tempo I wanted, tweaked it a bit, and formed the main theme around it.

But the song didn't really feel like a song until I sent it to my bandmate in The Archivists, @calfman8803. He added (as he usually does) the perfect guitar and bass lines to turn this from an idea into a piece of music. He also added really cool drums throughout on his electronic drum pad, bringing a whole new dimension to the sound.

Calfman: "sounds good, ship it"

Lyrics

did you ever stop to wonder how all this affected me through the lightning and the thunder you stayed dry while i stayed free

we tear ourselves to pieces dreaming of a better day we'd kill ourselves to live there if we only knew the way

did you even try to tie me up inside don't believe the hype just hang me up to dry hang me up to die

can you even stop to listen when i try to call your name you don't know what you've been missing when you play your little game

did you even try to tie me up inside don't believe the hype just hang me up to dry

did you even try to tie me up inside don't believe the hype just hang me up to dry hang me up to die hang me up to dry hang me up to die hang me up

Such a solid song. Every part is so melodic and they all come together so well. The raw recording style is really fitting and there's that slight bit of jamminess - I can't help but get a little Ween vibe from it

The build around that core sample is a lot of fun, keeping the character even as the layers pile on. Really cool tune, great refrain, awesome to see ya putting out killer rawk.

This is really damn good! Your voice really thrives on the arrangement. Fantastic work all around.

Jordan this is so great! so groovin i love the guitar tone choices and the floaty vocals on top of it work so well—the repetitions at the end really work so well too and drive it home 🔥
