Sandy Daisy (Including Her Magnificent 1925 Performance)
Liner Notes
I'm worried that this song has come out like a jumbled mess, but hey, here it is lol. This one's about a vaudeville trapeze artist who's abused by her manager. Not really sure where the inspiration came from, but it's been fun to work on. I'd like to make it more "old-timey" sounding in certain sections down the line I understand that digital synthesizers aren't exactly reminiscent of the roaring '20's lol.
Some of the riffs used in this song I've had kicking around for a while since I never really had a place to put them. In fact, the middle section (or the "performance") is a repurposed arrangement of an instrumental I used as a Bandcamp-exclusive bonus track for an album of mine a few years ago.
This song was also originally titled "Soddy Daisy" after the city in Tennessee. However, that city didn't even exist until 1969, so it wouldn't really make much sense to name a character from the 20's after it.
Enjoy!

Lyrics
Sandy Daisy Put on your show In the big top You always glow Sandy Daisy There’s more to you I know
Another town for Another day Come the evening You swing and play Sandy Daisy Is there something you wanna say?
Oh the world is so cruel to you For the things you don’t understand Of all the girls I know there’s none like you With the world in the palm of your hand
You left your mother and your father behind Making coin out on the travelling line High up on the trapeze when you look down below Do you fret for your fall? Or would you just be happy to go?
Well, she’s the best damn thing this side of the Mississippi’s ever seen And I see them all the time Spinning, static, swinging, flying, never matters by her means Leaves my wretched heart behind
Some days when I see her and she’s smiling It almost brings a tear to my eye For the beauty here that’s standing before me Has won another “Best of Show" for ‘25
I can see it in her eyes It goes right down to the soul I can see it when she’s flipping through the bends There’s only so much Before you lose all control Living for the answer you can’t give
Sandy Daisy How was your show? They said they loved you I hope you know Sandy baby? I won’t ever let you go
