sugar rush

Liner Notes

well I said last week that I hadn't felt very inspired for a while, and then of course I felt inspired one day later. Thank you, destiny.

I usually hate writing lyrics, so I set out to write a sappy love song and tried not to care if the lyrics were bad. It ended up being not particularly easier.

It's not my usual kind of lyrics, but I think/hope that the bite of the music counteracts the saccharine words and makes it work somehow

Lyrics

when it hits i feel dizzy i feel faint going crazy im insane

words come out wrong cos i'm in love too much of your sugar in my blood

when it hits i feel woozy i feel dumb and great and powerless

somehow feel like i'm a superman then you touch my hand and i crumble

when i'm lying in bed all the things that you said swimming around in my head sugar rush sugar rush

seeing you on repeat when im trying to sleep nothing ever so sweet sugar rush sugar rush

One of my favorite things I've discovered here! So many attributes speak to my taste. I love how crunch the guitars are under the sugar sweet melody. Great vocal production too.

Marvelously crunchy and noisy! I love this combo of distortion and ethereal vox so much. The high note on “hits” is so good. The lyrics and sonic palette work perfectly together for the big noisy sweet feelings they’re describing.

I absolutely love this mix of sweet spot melodies and ear-destroyingly crunchy distortion. Like when a dog seems to have orgasmic pleasure from a good scratch, that what this does to me.

This is just lovely, mesmorized by the swirling guitar melody. When you go over the top with that falsetto ending it's so sweet. The title made me think of the Joy Electric song Sugar Rush.

The vocal melody is so great, the first line in each verse really grabs you. The higher vocals at the end over the riff works so well, and the sugar rush hook is great.

Tremendous wall of sound from those guitars, and the ethereal vocals add a lovely melody. Loud and sweet, like the title! Excellent swirling lead guitar. This would have been a big hit in a different (i.e., better) time! Best song I've heard this FAWM.

I really like the chord progressions on this. Very cool song, felt it deep in my little early 2000s fuzz pedal heart. I don't find the lyrics especially saccharine but that's not my call if you feel that way. They sound very honest to me

Love the fuzz, that main riff is great. Vocals soar nicely over the guitars in a way that suits the dream-pop lyrics. "too much of your sugar in my blood" is a great line!

The vibe is right on this! I like how the guitar melody keeps drifting through variations to keep things engaging
