Fantasy Blues

I feel as if I've written this song a few times before, even if I've never written exactly this song. Pseudo-blues, based on a 16-bar progression, with country overtones; I don't get much more tongue-in-cheek than that.

Lyrics

I woke Sunday evening, I was trailed by twenty cats The choir of friendly purring was a treat The hellhound was distracted By a ball game in the park So I went walking safely down the street.

I found an open market Bought cat food, bread, and milk I’ve got an OK job; it pays the bills I passed an empty alley With zero gamblers there Glad to see nobody stabbed or killed

Back home, the one I cherish Was talking to some friends Who have a happy marriage of their own We listened to some music, Drank one glass of wine, And wandered off to bed once they’d gone home

Asked in light of morning, Remembering that dream, What if our world was like the one I’d seen? We’d still be playing blues songs Because we liked the sound But they would all be labelled fantasy

The hellhound was distracted By a ball game in the park - the first verse made me expect something else, surpising twist, lovely easy going song.

A happy song about a happy life and something we all need right now. Well done and I love the guitar work and lyrics.

This was the perfect accompaniment to my morning walk on a cold and dreary day. I love the little humor twist at the ending. Nice, easy, listening, and a cheery vision of the world.

@davidr

I like this, a non-blue blues song, with a twist :)
