Louder Than Words

Liner Notes
#acousticonetake Wrote this one while driving from Effingham to Murphysboro IL. I'd waken up with the opening line about words of love being sung out of tune. Then I had a couple two three hours in the car to find a melody and flesh out the lyrics. Digging the simplicity.
Lyrics
Words of love Sung out of tune Whatever happened To me and you? Words of love Written on a page Torn and tattered Yellow with age A broken vow Speaks louder Than words of love
Red roses to say you're sorry When yellow roses would do And a card, handwritten Words of love from you
Words of love Sad and true Whatever happened With me and you? Words of love Written on the page Torn and tattered Yellow with age A broken vow Speaks louder Than words of love
(instrumental verse)
Words of love Sung out of tune Whatever happened To me and you? Words of love Written on a page Torn and tattered Yellow with age A broken vow Speaks louder
A broken vow Speaks louder
A broken vow Speaks louder Than words of love

Sad and poignant, Greg. Musically very nice, particularly in the chorus parts. I like the choice of an instrumental break also. I saw you marked this as a favorite and I had to come over and hear it.
Love how you have such a soulful delivery even at an early stage. The idea of the words of love being out of tune is evocative. Look forward to hearing the next versions!
The working title for this was "Louder Than Words Of Love." I hesitate to call it "Words Of Love" because of the Buddy Holly song. But I'm not sold "Louder Than Words" as a title.
Lately, I've been thinking about "A Broken Vow." Pros/cons?
