Number 7 to Rawtenstall

Liner Notes

This is a beat made on the #korg #volca #sample with a bunch of found sounds (hitting my desk lamp, desk… that kind of thing). I then played it to @oatst until he made some words, which he sang. The loop felt kind of downbeat, so it got a kind of downbeat chord sequence.

Recorded round my kitchen table with the new (to me) MXL 770X I snagged on eBay for £30, which is a bargain, I reckon.

Lyrics

This clag has soaked me to the bone Cuts me to my quick Heading far away from home Grit stone into brick

Bows against the window No signal to know Numbness as it still grows Moss on my back

On the road to Milnrow Heavy is the load Where does this bus go Carrots in the road

Nice changes in there and great use of found percussion. Another winner, guys!

I love all these found sounds! The beat sounds restless and agitated, and makes me picture someone pacing, nervous, impatient, and angry. Really evocative! Favorite two lines: "Numbness as it still grows/ Moss on my back"
