Lyrics

The Grief Motel

When the devil creeps in cooly, dressed to kill And he sips your soul out slowly, liquid pill You can claw, you can scratch But he’s much too strong a player, saps your will

He does his dance He has his plan You cannot run away

He’s now alive He lives in inside You have become his prey

When the devil took the body, and you cried Took your brother to the basement, made him die It’s not just, it’s not fair But he gets off knowing that he’s wrecked a life

He knows you’ve changed You’re rearranged You’re well inside his hell

No turning back Your world’s now black You’re at the grief motel

Love that heavy, heavy reggae groove! Intense lyrics, sung with conviction. I dig it!

First reggae song I'm hearing on fawm, you captured it in my humble opinion. I love the high vocal lines. Eerie "ghost town" vibes, very cool!

I know very little about reggae and it never occured to be it could be done this way. Thanks for opening my eyes. This is really good, all of it!

this portrait of the devil eschews the supernatural for the casual presence of evil, a fact of life that creates disorder through simple actions, and leaves all involved in various states of distress. the music creates an everyday carnival atmosphere of insidious toying with the balances we humans try to maintain.

Dark and brutal lyrics wrapped in happy music - just how I like it.

Also got a bit of a Tom Waits Bone Machine thing happening that I like.

How did you put together that reggae track?
