fresh new cardboard box

Skirmish: Cardboard Boxes (@robinleaf)Liner Notes
Short and sweet, another little bit of therapy, and a promise to myself to find the joy in simple things, like my dog manages to do innumerable times a day.
Lyrics
I truly wish that I could find something like the joy my dog derives from shredding up a fresh new cardboard box
it's nearly the same with my cat after she's had a good long sat on the inside of a fresh new cardboard box
Even my spouse, when she receives a package that the postman leaves some new bauble inside a fresh new cardboard box
I'm afraid I've lost that innocence I cannot find fair recompence to balance out the stressors in my life I wish that I could find happiness in simple things that life presents to have what makes my dog feel such delight
watching birds play in the snow the excitement makes that tail go I can't access those feelings it unlocks
fear of what my future holds anxiety as what's next unfolds waiting for the other shoe to drop
Gonna try my best to let things go look for the good, try to find the glow I see in her eyes as she tears up that cardboard box
I'm afraid I've lost that innocence I cannot find fair recompense to balance out the stressors in my life I vow to try to find that happiness in simple things that life presents to have what makes my dog feel such delight

Aww this is really nice. Short and sweet like you said, and a great reflection on life, on seeking to let go of the stressors and look for simple joys. I like the cardboard box example as a way to ground the song.
I too like your use of the cardboard box as a tangible example. Our pets have so much to teach us. Dogs appreciate when we try to learn. Cats just think we are slow and stupid.
