Some language / translation feedback:
-The formal "Sie" today is only used for special effect in poetry. IMO.
- I would translate "load" as Bürde ("burden") here.
- "Lassen Sie sich nicht von den Geschichten / Auf dem langen Weg herumlaufen." -> "Lass dich nicht von den Geschichten auf den (weiten) Umweg schicken"

Ooo… the English version is so poetic and the German looks like it would sing well. I like the thought provoking sentiment you convey.
