Liner Notes

Lyrics

clothing, faces: things we don kinship, clubs: where we belong morning ritual of dress up washed and ready, walls and chin up choose expressions, check the mirror practice poses to be clearer I am this, not that slogans primed and pat

and then at the end of the day exhale, put the costume away reflect and let go prepare yourself for tomorrow

autopilot automaton know your lines; keep your mask on there are patterns in the town kings and cooks and cops and clowns waves will shift and you’ll float along holding tight when the current’s strong enclosed in the crowd acceptance a vow

but then at the end of the day are you certain, are you unchanged? who will you follow tomorrow? who will you lead?

what if you turned the other way? what would be different? what could be gained? what could be lost? what is the cost of change?

hush now, take your melatonin line up, here’s your serotonin sleep dreamless sleep live lifeless life

and then at the end of the day exhale, put the costume away reflect and let go until your last tomorrow

I like this - nice understated accompaniment in the verses, and while I thought the lyrics meant one thing as I was listening, skimming through previous comments this really could apply to a lot of other more metaphorical costumes.

Wow, that's a powerful song. I really feel this. It feels like it could apply to a lot of things – first I thought of "performing femininity"; then I thought of masking as a neurodivergent person; and the eternal struggle to really "be yourself".

I love the treatment on the vocals. You sound great, and this kind of introspection in the lyric is so necessary at this time (as it always has and always will be).

I love how you set up a cheery melody and then...

what could be lost? what is the cost of change? get it to turn so sad.
