09 Love and Lux

Liner Notes

This year's ambitious project: "Write and compose 12 songs in the style of 1980's R.E.M., and try to make them sound as finished as possible, although a touch of lo-fi is perfectly fine. Present them as an album."

We wrote all the lyrics, melodies and riffs, then used AI to convert piano riffs into guitar riffs, beef up the backing tracks and convert our own less-than-adequate vocals to something more pleasant to the ears, before mixing everything down.

Lyrics

I ate lunch with Love and Lux I sat back and watched 'em flirt He brought the flowers She brought the luck And I just laughed 'til my stomach hurt

She was exaggerating He was carrying on Mutual admiration club She's the hurricane He's the calm They shared a glass of water Like they were sharing blood

Love and Lux That's just the way it was There was hardly ever Love without Lux Love without Lux

I saw Lux without Love Over noodles all alone She told me Love had met the One And had wedding fever on the phone I just cried until she was done

She wasn’t elaborating I let her carry on We cried on each other’s shoulder She's the hurricane I’m the calm We shared a glass of water Like we were sharing blood

Love and Lux That's just the way it was There was hardly ever Love without Lux Love without Lux

Delightfully clever lyric. I appreciate the tune idea you came up with here -- it does have an REM feel to it!
