Lyrics
We both know, I’m still waiting for you to close the door You’re still standing behind it, you hope that I change my mind
Boy am I glad, that you’ll leave my life And I’ll be just fine I’ll give back the burden you gave to me And I’ll do it so joyfully I’ll be filled with glee
If there’s anything you’d like to say You can leave it hanging from the fridge If there’s anything you’d like to keep You can keep it to yourself I don’t need to hear it
Boy am I glad, that you’ll leave my life And I’ll be just fine I’ll give back the burden you gave to me And I’ll do it so joyfully I’ll be filled with glee
If you could do one thing to save yourself Then what are you waiting for? It’s almost like you’re just as relieved But in the end it’s me you please You can get off your knees
Boy am I glad, that you’ll leave my life And I’ll be just fine I’ll give back the burden you gave to me And I’ll do it so joyfully I’ll be filled with glee
When I’m done with you, when I’m through I’ll look back bitter and nostalgic For the suffering you put me through I’ll be glad I have it better now One day I’ll stop thinking of you
Boy am I glad, that you’ll leave my life And I’ll be just fine I’ll give back the burden you gave to me And I’ll do it so joyfully I’ll be filled with glee

Great flip of the prompt - sometimes happy dances emerge from those dark days when those transitions finally occur! I love the bite in this lyric!
Turned that one on its head! A nice (or not so nice, lol)use of the prompt. Nicely structured and very clear construction of the lyrics. Good skirmishing!
OOH-this is a kind of wicked joyfulness. I can hear a bit of evil laughter....
"If there’s anything you’d like to keep / You can keep it to yourself". Love the sting in these lyrics! And if taken at face value, the message is crystal clear, and is indeed a cause for celebration! But am I the only one that senses that the singer is trying to convince themselves ("One day I’ll stop thinking of you"). I hear this song being spat rather than sung! #tit4tat
