I am sick and I just need to FAWM this. Some things need tweaks.
Lyrics
Ed my friend there’s I No good way to say IV I But we never sugarcoated I And we won’t start today VII IV I Death is coming for us all But you’re going first Barring tragic accident Or millenial curse
And we’ve talked about the way we want to go IV V iv Spontaneous, and not too slow IV ii V Gone before you know you’re gone IV V With faith that those behind will carry on vi IV iv as you’ve shown ii All these lives that you’ve grown V
Ed my friend it’s Painfully cliche To write a song When I got the news today It just seemed like death would wait Til just after your prime And the prime just kept on coming Until death ran out of time
And we’ve talked about the thousand things you’ve done Fought your way through Vietnam without firing a gun Fished from presidential creeks Mastered all the whitewater techniques Which you have shown To anyone who wants to grow
Ed my friend when I Take my boat Slip down to the river to float Feel a breeze and the tide and the water on my blade I tell my boat the things you taught me And hearing, it obeys
Because we talked about the way that water flows the way that every life must eventually go But when you’re lost and tired somewhere There always seems to be an eddy there Where you can rest Look at all of us abreast Look at me and know Mine is the life that you have grown
What a wonderfully touching tribute...your poetry when combined with your musicality results in something very special and heartfelt...
