The Lady Vanishes

Liner Notes
The end of the month has arrived and I'm not going to be able to record my last few songs before March 1st. So, I'm posting up the lyrics now and will get to the demos when I can; probably this weekend. Between work and other obligations, it just wasn't my year for getting to 14. Oh well, I got eight out of it. I really don't like posting these without demos, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
Cribbed some Steve Miller Band lyrics for this one.
Lyrics
Some sick sleight of hand Some slick misdirection A flash of light A puff of smoke
And the lady vanishes
Never to reappear I'm left standing there Looking stunned Holding her earrings
Tap of the wand On the spinning sarcophagus I want to reach out and grab ya Abracadabra
And the lady vanishes
Never to reappear I'd do anything Just to see you Saw myself in two
One last half-smile and wave From the slowest procession The destination uncertain She steps behind the velvet curtain
And the lady vanishes

Looking forward to hearing this one with music ... good imagery, and I like the borrowed line from Steve Miller! Congrats on completing 8 songs -- that's an accomplishment!
You've been exploring some great twists of 80s lyrics and I dig that -- could be a great slightly-sublte theme for a concept album if every song has a little nod to a pop song. You handsome cuss, you.
I like the perspective of this lyric, you're not the magician, you're not Steve Miller's lusty gibberish, you're the one with the sense of loss when the show is over. "Just to see you, saw myself in two" is heartbreakingly perfect.
