Mean's Mean (A Decayed Speech)

Liner Notes
#ambient #electronic #synth #spokenword #poem Track 8 (the last one) of Distance to a Decayed Speech. This song was written and recorded on February 23
Wasn't originally going to post about this project on FAWM since I'm doing my own version of the challenge, but I realized that I might as well since it's still an album writing project in February. The rules to my own version of FAWM are:
- I make one full song every saturday and sunday of February (a total of 8)
- The song must be completely finished by the end of the day, and I'm not allowed to relisten to the song until the end of the month (if there's any audio issues in any of the uploads, that's why I didn't catch them.)
- The final album will be ordered in chronological order of when the songs were made, and the album must be at least 40 minutes long. Hope y'all enjoy
Lyrics
Speak to yourself Bullhorns blare in the ears of the many It scratches and digs the skin like dirt My head aches, and I can’t blame it Linen towers are arisen Charming bands of color stripe all around Melted, damaged, disrepair
It arrived in the smoke and flame The machine spoke, its gears a pleasant hum with blame It told them beautiful deceits They found it on the back of a deposit On the backs of receipts Heads above clouds spin with the turbulence It sees it all Dogs on walks On wet grounds Enough to bring tears Enough to hurt It hurts
Burglars make us pray To make us pay To make a mean’s mean
It all lies It all lies It all lies Beneath it all Lies metallic pavement Cracked and burned Buildings above buildings They crumble down, one story at a time Built in times of need Declared no longer necessary Take us to their home A wine palace like dull Sheol Boring, so boring and plain
Dark months come It separates It breaks apart It all lies Speak Songs Speak
I enjoyed listening to this very interesting piece. Your lyrics are quite dark and evocative, which fits the music. The textural change towards the end, with major 7 chords, etc, gives an impression of emerging from the darkness. Thanks for sharing.
