Lyrics
Ghost Town ©️2025 - words and music by Sharon Stepler
This building once stood three stories tall Held wealth and power within Now all that's left is a crumbling wall And the sound of the wild desert wind The sound of the wild desert wind
In western Nevada a prospector found Gold so pure and so fine A boom town erupted when word got around The prospector was king of the mine The prospector was king of the mine
He built a bank so ornate and grand His monument would never fall But soon all the gold was stripped from the land And soon there was no town at all Soon there was no town at all
Gold does not tarnish, gold does not rust Gold is not vanquished by fire But every man will return to dust However much gold he acquires However much gold he acquires
This building once stood three stories tall Held wealth and power within Now all that's left is a crumbling wall And the sound of the wild desert wind And the sound of the wild desert wind

Shades of Ozymandias! The repeated “wild desert wind” is excellent.
Your song captures the starkness of the town and the story relates all the details to tell us the story. I was hoping to find a ghost town when I was traveling down that way, but ran out of time to follow the leads I had!
I like this! The melody on that repeated last verse line is great, love the rise at the beginning each time. Good choice to repeat the first verse at the end. And the sentiment is well taken.
This could be the soundtrack to a western movie! You have such a beautiful voice, it sounds lovely!
