Just for fun.
Lyrics
Sat down to write a letter, Couldn't get you off my mind, Sat down to write a letter, Couldn't get you off my mind. So I wrote a letter to myself but I left the thing unsigned.
I said I was a fool, And that was not untrue, I said I was a fool, And that was not untrue, People tell me I'm a genius, but I've been a fool for you.
Got the sit down, grab a pen and write a letter Blues Take myself and shake myself and make me see the truth, I'm just a fool With the write a letter blues.
Don't know where I'll mail it, Cuz I don't know where I'll be. Don't know where I'll mail it, Cuz I don't know where I'll be, But I sure know where I won't be, With you standin' next to me.
Got the open my eyes, stop listenin' to lies, and write a letter Blues, Got the tell myself, yell at myself, get out of my own way Blues, I've got the Blues, Got the write a letter Blues.
Next time I write a letter, It's gonna start out with Dear John. Next time I write a letter, It's gonna start out with Dear John, Cuz Honey I got a letter to myself Said I been hangin' on too long!
I got the Woke up, toked up, and read my letter Blues, I got the See it now, clear somehow, I'm Walkin' out on you, No more Blues, And no more cryin' over you! No more Blues, Because I got the letter, Blues
Blues, blues blues blues, We're done here

Lots of blues energy! Great lines here. I can already tell this is gonna be an awesome track :D
Fantastic take on the prompt with both insight and wit. It flows off the page beautifully. I like how empowering it feels.
That classic structure and a bit of humor to boot—I like how you've worked the "letter to myself" into a... punchline isn't the right word, but the line that changes course with snark. Fun write!
Love it. I particularly like the "don't know where I'll mail it/ cuz I don't know where I'll be" repetition.
OMG this is GREAT. I can just hear it. I know it's way too late for me to actually get a demo done before the end, but I've never actually written a blues song and I really want to try! I love so much of this but I think the first stanza is my favorite.
Nice lyric. Drop me a line when the music drops. I like that the lyric is set up in a blues style but the way the words read, it has a nice folky poetic storytelling feel to the words.
