White-haired, creaky-kneed, arrhythmic and sometimes pretty addled singer-songwriter who defaults mostly to country, alt-country & Americana genres--ones that best suit my twangy pronunciations. I write lyrics and I play some guitar to do my initial music composing, but sometimes I do full productions with the help of BIAB, LPX and contributions from other musicians. I don't touch any of those generative AI type tools for anything. And for probably half of this FAWM in 2025 (My fifth, I think), I plan on doing everything as a single track with only an acoustic guitar and a vocal.
Usually up for collaboration opportunities and challenges. Hoping to be more active on the skirmish front this year.
Can't wait to get started. Wishing Happy FAWMing to everybody!

I've got you on my list for the summer!
Heck yeah man. Keep on keeping on! :)
Thanks so much for your comments!
That is alright! It is still a great song! :)
That Phil Sloan, not Paul. and PF , not PJ..sorry for the typo.
Wonderful meeting you on Zoom the other day, and thank you for the kind comments! Really enjoying your music! You play the kind of genuine honest heartfelt Americana that I really love. "Any music that comes from the soul is soul music." - Sturgill Simpson
It was nice to meet you the other day on Zoom. Hope to see and hear more of your work! Thanks for the comments on my songs as well!
P. F. Sloan songs include Eve of Destruction, Lets Live for Today, You Baby, Let Me Be, From a Distance, Where Were You When I Needed You, A Must to Avoid, Sins of the Family, this Precious time, I found A Girl, Secret Agent Man, and Two Divided by Love (he is the sole writer on all his songs, although Steve Barrie, who contributed nothing to any of them) Phil was a slave to Dunhill Records. Dylan requested a meeting with him because he was interested in writing with him, and Phil was told he would be fired if he ever met with Dylan. He finally was fired and lost the rights to all his music because he broke the law and allowed a 16 year old to play his own guitar solo on a record he was producing , and was sternly warned by the company not to do this.
this link will take you to the song https://billwhite.bandcamp.com/track/raindrop-in-the-rain
it was good seeing you face to face. i had to leave right after you because estrella had a headache. hope we can talk more in the future. and thank you for all your kind comments.im reading a book by harold bloom now on shakespeares influence on milton. makes me realize how far i have yet to go as a writer.
Thank you for the lovely feedback you left on my song ‘Green’! Really appreciated the feedback. Looking forward to checking out your stuff!
Great fawm 2025 Jeff. Always nice to get to follow along and see all the great songs on your page, and not only to hear them but to be inspired by them, and to take the little pieces I can find and attempt to add them to my own songs. I mentioned this on another song, but you seem to have mastered the art of reminiscent songs, just something about your smooth delivery and melodic approach. I'm not sure but whatever it is is very nice. I'm pretty sure I've seen you make people cry with song so there is not much more high praise I could give you past that point. I also appreciate the listens and comments, they are encouraging and welcome. Always great to get to share a space with you.
As far as I'm concerned you are free to take a crack at the @nancycunning lyric. (Obviously, with her blessing.) I'd hate for it to languish and I'm not sure I can even make an attempt currently.
Thank you so much for your praise for Theodore, my collab with @davidtaro. I knew I gave him a challenging assignment, Simon & Garfunkel vibes and all, but I agree with you that he nailed it. It means a lot to me that you, in particular, appreciated the result. Thanks!
you didnt know i could rock? check out this fossil from the birth of mtv.
Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words on my song "Turn Off The News"!
although i cant agree with the qualities you attribute to me, i will say, since you brought it up. that the more one suffers the deeper ones understanding and empathy for the human condition becomes. as far as feeling what i read and hear, it has taken a lifetime of study to even begin to understand the works of others.(i must amend this by confessing that 10 years as an arts writer for a daily newspaper gave me the ability to develop and express clearly my responses to all manner of music, films, theatre, and literature) and the brain? like the heart and the lungs, it is an organ that functions without effort on our part. if you repeat something regularly enough, the brain knows what to do, whether it is writing a song, taking a morning jog, or smoking a cigarette.
Pretty much nothing to do with Suno other than tell it what you want. I do thinks it is valid for lyricists though if they cannot get their words set to music. really tests out the quality of the lyrics. It is actually insanely good though.
Thank you, I will check this dude out!
We'll see what happens when I'm back in the land of the DAW. I definitely like that song a lot 😄
Thanks also for your comment on "Caoinaeg". It's been quite a wild ride to include all these comments. So happy you enjoyed!
Thank you, Jeff! It really helped to visit guitar lessons and get proper homework. Since I quit, I just fiddle around and have no idea where to continue... I'm in awe how some people play fingerpicking blues and country!
Thanks Jeff, I'll check your Clinton pal out... still stuck on two songs, eeekkk and arghhhh..... later
I'm almost certain I encountered you here in 2020 or 21. You were making legit country jams.
Don't shit on your playing again.
I think I must sign-off for the rest of today because your comment truly made me smile :) lots!! Big one. Thank you so much, Jeff!
Thanks Jeff for the comments on Rope-a-Dope! 🥊🎶
As for the guitar… it is a Goya. In the era of lawsuit Martin copies… Martin started making their own cheap copies under Sigma and the lesser known Goya (a name they acquired from another maker.) It took some fretwork and TLC to get it to work at all but it has a certain something for that style even though it is just an old cheap budget guitar.
(On a side, I had another Goya that needed even more work (new bracing, cracked back repair, etc. I got it started and the gave the guitar with a new set of braces and anything else needed to one of my students so he could fix it as a wood shop project at school. Turned out pretty sweet.)
Jeff, you're a legend, that's such a brilliant and in-depth comment, totally agree on the genius of all those doubles and juxtapositions Bill threw in. If there was a recommendation thread for comments, I'd be putting that one on there immediately 🙌
thanks for sending along that other version of Arthur McBride. I agree it is a pretty nice rendition.
Thank you so much for noticing "Going the Distance" - those are my favorite parts, too, and, therefore, one of my favorite songs.
thanks so much for your comment, means a lot coming from you, have really enjoyed hearing your songs regularly. You are such a powerful songwriter and performer
Hi, Jeff. SO glad you liked Winds of Indifference, my collab with @housewystan. She came through with exactly the mood I had in mind. I love it when that happens! Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed it.
Oh I have to actually listen to your California song! I looked at it one time but I wasn't able to actually listen so I was saving it for later and then I didn't get back to that specific skirmish to start listening to everybody's contributions (it's really not realistic that I'm going to listen to everything but I want to). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I have already noticed a couple of times that I have written similar lines to something else I wrote this month. And it might just be like a measure that is similar or something before they diverge but it did bother me. I'm trying to let that go because probably most people won't even notice and things tend to change a little bit when you practice them more and go through the process of recording. No reason for embarrassment!
Thank you for your kind words about "Someone Else's Dream". It means a lot to me that the lyrics worked well to your ear!
i think you mentioned feel a whole lot better by the byrds in the song. adding harmonies like that would shore up your vocals,
It's your fault I'm listening to "Long Cool Woman in the Black Dress" - lol!
Thank you Jeff, exactly what I need.. I have the weekend free so I'll check out the Gram tags... I have difficulty getting started this year but I'll bust a gut to get more songs up pronto.. thanks again, I love your take on songs and singing.. Soundcloud address ... pearsechristopher later
Always a pleasure to hear your songs, singing and playing. Thank you for your kind support 🎶🎵
Hi, Jeff! So glad you're here at FAWM again. Thanks for the nice comments on @gwynjones' and my collab on Love Isn't Any Fun. I figured he'd be perfect for this, and I was so pleased when he agreed to collab with me. He just doesn't disappoint! 😀 Very nice of you to let us know you enjoyed it. Thanks!
I have the song done but for some reason i can not upload my mp3 file. I written off to the support system. Waiting to see what happens. Just and Update. It is uploaded now. Let me know what you think.
Jeff, I’m really enjoying your tunes! You’re really cranking them out… I can’t keep up but I’ll get around to hearing all of them eventually.
Jeff, thank you so much for your insightful comments on “Baby Makes Three.” My song feels so appreciated!
Got your message on my profile. I was really looking forward to jumping into fawm, but got sick right before the start. Recovered now and looking forward to getting started.
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Hannah'!
Jeff, thank you so much for your lovely praise of “Slow Burn.” Very much appreciated!
Exactly! I want it to sound like a legit backing singer surrounding the lead vocalist--not one that takes or shares the mic from the lead singer for a moment and returns it. LOL! I am learning. Thank you so much for the listen and kind comments, Jeff!!
Thanks for checking out FAWM Open '25. Good to see you - CT shoreline looking at a little dusting tonight ❄️
I was honored to get such an encouraging message from you on my "cheesy" first song of FAWM. Thank you very much.
I aspire to sound like Ringo mixed with Johnny Cash! :) So you've got it made. Fact is, you've got a fine, genuine country voice.
Thank for listening to Sell The Difference Jeff. Glad you liked it!
Thank you!!
