Liner Notes
This is a seed for a much longer track. I can hear where it needs to go, but two days is long enough. Plus I have to travel on business this coming week so time to let this one go. REALLY rough mix but you'll get the drift.
OK, details. #firstfruits #fawmtronica #psychedelic #instrumental #downtempo
Composition stuff for you theory nerds out there. This starts with an intro and a verse that’s written over a Dorian vamp in E (i / IV repeat, although I do sneak a i7 in there from time to time). Then there is what will become a chorus, although it is one time through now. Moves to E Aeolian (pure minor) with a Picardy third to end. Chords for the chorus are:
VI / VII / i / i7 VI / VII / i / III VI / VII / i / i7 VI / v07 / I
or
C / D / Em / Em7 C / D / Em / G C / D / Em / Em7 C / Bdim7 / E

Ooh sweet man, getting some Beloved vibes at the beginning of this one. Lots of air in the mix, really appreciate the balance all-around. Love how you explain the theory as well. So glad you made it back this year!
Well produced track. Sounds quite complete though I know we can always imagine another byte of ear candy here and there. OK, it's March now.
Beautiful and so calming! It washes over me so pleasantly! Sure doesn't sound rough to me! I closed my eyes and enjoyed this immensely! Thank you for the loveliest 2 minutes and 49 seconds of my day!
Great tempo, gets my head doing “the chicken” (bobbing back and forward). Agree with @rustyp this has a very meditative feel to it. Great job.
This is great! relaxing and meditative.
If you ever return to it and find yourself interested in adding any vocal elements, maybe not a full fledged song/lyric, but a repeated phrase or something tucked way in, let me know. :)
Cool sounds, very joyful work!
Love that synth sound! Love nerd stuff, who doesn't! cool production.
Your rough mix is still so amazingly done! Excited to the rest of your songs this month!
Beautiful mix of sounds. Particularly enjoy the sly plinky synth that's prominent in the middle. Great to hear you again.
Oooh dig that stuttery synth, then the slow build to... chill hop? Trance jazz? Whatever it is, I'm bopping my head (gently) to it. Really nice production work here.
Nice and chilled out. I especially liked the drum line. It was rather jazzy, but put to a fawmtronica purpose.
Nice one!
yeah. I consider myself a nerd but your liner notes were like «what? Am I supposed to know what a dorian vampire is?». Thanks for making me feel dumbass bruh
😂
but I think I should comment on the song. First off; the mix is excellent and I can totally see this going much much longer! I know about all about work getting in the way.. but you still made this; and that buddy is excellent
Just a quick observation - I love it when you type "nope" in the lyrics section. I crack a smile every time. It's so you, man. This sound excellent in my headphones. A good soundscape to close out my work day. I'm familiar with the plugins used here, but I can't say I have mastered them as you have here.
This is very clean production, I love it. Beautiful stuff too. I do hope you continue it, it clearly can grow into something fabulous!
What a beautiful song! I use both Omnisphere and NI Komplete. Excellent plugins!
That sidechained synth greats a really nice pulse in that intro, which you then turn on it's head with that nice laid-back beat instead of a four-to-the-floor. Plenty of earcandy in the sonic field of this one. Can imagine an act like All Saints or Gabrielle picking this up in the late-90s/early 00s
Very beautiful composition with positive feel ❤️ 💕 wonderful melodies, instrumentation, layers, rhythm. Loving your work and playing. Very polished and inspiring. ✨️🎵🎶
Love the breathiness of that intro synth. Pretty! Nice, really like how the different instruments work together.
I wasn’t expecting the acoustic guitar to come in and I love it! And oh that final chord is so sweet! I feel you could just repeat the whole thing again. Are you planning to add any vocal?
I really enjoyed this one, thanks for sharing.
It's been too long since I poured one of your tracks into my ears. And this is a lovely way to fix that omission. I love the space you've created here. The build is so relaxed, everything happening in its own time and a great choice of instrumentation. That change of pace and feel atthe two minute mark really hits the spot too. I love it.
