Thanks @tezzin, @katestantonsings, @thinkalto, @nadine and @axl for the challenge! It was fun collection of thematical and technical, and they all worked well together.
This song is a true story of my wife's career. Except I asked what she wished she could have said to her old boss, not what she actually said. I got the line "you're the bar I hold me to and baby that bar's in hell". From there it was a pretty straight forward to put the rest of the song in place.
The journey goes from work place of hell, to finally breaking free and finding a new job where it's not only a much better environment but one where she's a lead and can foster a much better environment for all the other employees there.
The style of the song is loosely based on Halestorm which is a favourite of my wife. I started to go all out on production before realizing it was FAWM so it's a bit half baked in parts haha.

We need to see more of your rock alter ego. I love how you break free. The solo part is cool ans I get that Halestorm vibe. The message is clear! It's one of the songs I could literally day to remind myself that there are better place in the world.

The alliteration in the pre-chorus is close enough to overdone to be just about perfect!

This has quite a few dark sounding words but the overall topic is quite positive. I love it how the last line leads back to the beginning again. Really clever. 😀

speaking from personal experience, it's also a frustrating pain in the ass to be the manager of a demeaning micromanager like that... because you're sort of both responsible and not responsible for how their actions affect people lower down the reporting chain. blech. anyway, nice job weaving this all together!
