Out In The Rain

Liner Notes
Just a little theory I have been developing about why we don't see a certain animal. Thanks in advance to anyone who points out that Noah also seemed to forget the dinosaurs. My theory still needs some refining.
Last week someone said to me, "Aha, I've worked it out! You're like Bob Dylan, but for children." I'll definitely take that. This #folk song might provide some evidence one way or the other. It has a freshly restrung 8 string baritone #ukulele, a #harmonica and an overdubbed tenor ukulele. #fuc
Lyrics
They didn't need a weatherman to warn them It was lunchtime but the sky was growing dark A distant rumble promising disaster Clouds on the horizon looming large
But Noah had been making preparations Having got a long range forecast from on high He knew he would need more than an umbrella For his family and the wildlife to stay dry
Every species got a pair of tickets From aardvark up to zebras and the rest Even flies and spiders were invited Keeping predators and prey on separate decks
And when it came to final call for boarding Passengers were all checked off the list But Noah couldn't shake the nagging feeling There was something else important he had missed.
What about the unicorns? Did he forget the unicorns? A branch of evolution down the drain How could he miss the unicorns? Now there's no more unicorns! 'cause somebody had left them in the rain
A giraffe or two made it through the deluge They could just about survive on higher ground The ducks didn't need any assistance But the unicorns were simply left to drown
He brought in a pair of rats and the roaches The raptors and tyrannosaurus rex Thought he'd gone through all of the inventory But you know it always pays to double check.
So what about the unicorns? Did he forget the unicorns? A branch of evolution down the drain How could he miss the unicorns? Now there's no more unicorns! 'cause somebody had left them in the rain
And it was only when Noah saw the rainbow That he knew he'd left a species in the cold But tell me you won't have a senior moment When you're six hundred years old
What about the unicorns? Did he forget the unicorns? A branch of evolution down the drain How could he miss the unicorns? Now there's no more unicorns! 'cause somebody had left them in the rain
Somebody had left them in the rain

Does make sense that Nah was having senior moments. Why else would he have saved earwigs and mosquitos?
Sniff So sad. There is a short story about one of Noah's sons trying to buy a unicorn couple from someone for the ark and the guy wouldn't sell them. So his son came back and said "no unicorns". This version does not make it better. cry But great music.
Nice storytelling. I always thought that "other" unicorn song had too much blaming the victim going on. 😀
Yup good fun song and yeah kids would love it! I want a follow up on why they were missed! We must know who’s fault and sue!
Love the chorus. So, what that person saying that you are just a big kid? I don't think you can deny that!
Really fun song, and I think this is a keeper.
What brilliant, witty lyrics! And glad SOMEONE is finally advocating for the national animal for Scotland 🦄 soaked to the bone they were! Great melody too, super catchy, is this #nerdfolk? I could hear this is a big sing-a-long in the pub!
Brilliant. Such a great retelling of a familiar tale with a twist.
I love the propulsion of your strumming, it projects the "hurry up" Noah must have felt, especially as the rain started.
"Now there's no more unicorns! 'cause somebody had left them in the rain" LOL
So much fun and sad and funny. I would still be quoting this origin myth as Gospel truth if I’d heard it when I was seven. I especially liked that the Trec made it on board.
