Sateen jälkeen kaikki on hiljaa (After the Rain Everything Is Quiet)
by @emplate
Liner Notes
For a very long time I've wanted to create a solo project which would combine post-punk, neofolk, ambient and black metal. This might be something for that project, and I feel it could kinda fit with my previous song.
In the verses you can hear my first time trying out that "clean shouting" style which is used a lot in the classic Finnish post-punk. Did it in one take and didn't rehearse it that much, so don't judge me too harshly, heh!
There's intertextuality in the lyrics, as "Hänen vihansa päivä" (The day of his wrath) is the title of a short story by a Finnish horror novelist Marko Hautala. The lyrics are mostly stream of consciousness, but they seem to paint quite an apocalyptic vision. The translation has been done hastily, but at least I guess you can get some idea from it.
Lyrics
Sateen jälkeen Kaikki on hiljaa Vain uneksijan Silmät aukeaa
Se repii unesi Ahnaalla terällään Järsii lihasi Kuluneilla hampaillaan
Maailmoiden takaa Huutaa tyhjyys Loputonta nälkää Hullun lailla
Nousee taivaasta Uusi aika Hänen vihansa päivä Lankeaa näille poluille
After the rain Everything is quiet Only the eyes Of the dreamer open
It rips your dreams With its ravenous blade It devours your flesh With its worn teeth
Behind the worlds The emptiness screams Of its endless hunger Like a madman
A new era Riser from the sky The day of his wrath Shall fall upon these paths

This sounded interesting by the idea and when listening did not need to be disappointed. Original and works really well.
yes, that scream at 1m55s ... then the black metal rasp ... this is a really interesting blend of sounds, very original. a couple of your tracks over the past years have sounded a bit like agalloch (major plus) but i feel like you're starting to forge something more unique here - as @sapient said, keep going!!
OK, have you got any Finnish post-punk recommendations for me? Cos if this is what it sounds like, then I need to get my hands on some. The only references for those sections that my ears pull in are early Sisters of Mercy and some of Solstafír's heavier stuff. It combines so well with the BM sections. I reckon you are onto something here... keep going! 🤩
Really great epic sound ! The bass tone is terrific! All the différents parts combine so well in your track!
Really nice contrasts here: the instrumental melodies against the scream vocals, and the bass + clean vocal verses against the choruses, etc. Great stuff!
I never heard a combination of black metal and post punk but I guess you nailed it. The scream around 2 minutes is insane!!!
Well, it appears that you are a great melody writer as well! I mean, that main melody is absolutely stunning. And the scream works as expected, and you should definately use your cleans more often ;)
I love the lyric, it feels super dark and sinister. This isn't my style of music but I can appreciate some excellent scream/shouting when I hear it, sounds spot on. Great guitar work and composition overall!
That's great. Like the pace and the melodic guitar. Your singing worked out excellent...and I, as not a fan of really hard metal, really like the 'clean shouting' style. Thanks!
