My name is sapient (he/him), and I'm 90% metalhead.
Prepare for plenty of chugga-chugga with a sprinkling of meeedly-meedly on top.

Thank you so much for checking "Civil Obedience"! Well I have absolutely no idea what I had in my mind when I wrote that riff. It just happened and stuck in my head for days. I actually don't (actively) listen to Joy Division, but they're a great band, so thank you for that!
Thanks for dropping by again for a listen. You've been busy! Are you publishing any of them anywhere?
hi sapient, thanks for listening to "scorched fields". you absolutely understand what i was after!! i'm leaning heavily on badalamenti, silent hill, sunn o))) these days. ulver are great, will check out "dodheimsgard" - thanks for the lead.
Thanks for the comments on my (non) drinking song. 😎
Thank you for your lovely comments on my song New Beginnings.
I think that Kevin Chambers is Steve's cousin, rather than brother, I'll have to draw up a family tree! Thanks for the listen and comment
Glad you enjoyed my morph of the Beignet Tiki Shack. From the comments, I now know my approach is different but I hope it follows the spirit of the challenge. Maybe next year, I’ll do a seed song or maybe even write and sing some lyrics which would be a first for me in FAWM.
Thanks for the comment! No odd time signature, it's all 6/4 (or 6/8), but I love playing with accent patterns to switch it up ;) Btw, guitars sounds are all from Neural DSP plugins, might be a bit pricey, but the sounds are 👌
thanks for your comment on Jam 36. It was just me. I used a mic ditto looper and made a loop, added some more to it, and then played guitar over the top of it. the output went into my mixer and direct into Zoom H2. I added a little reverb to the wav file in post. that's it.
Firstly, you're a legend of the highest order. Secondly thank you for your comments and listening to my songs, reading them all in one go was equally affirming and funny! I'll be working my way through yours soon and CANT BLOOMIN WAIT!!! 😊😊
Thanks for listening to Cornelia B. Windiate! It could use some editing but I think there are some good bones there (no pun intended!). And it was fun to work in open D!
And thank you for the comments on "Graves of Black Heritage" and "Kaikuu yössä muisto"! I've thought about maybe finally making some sort of a solo release out of a few songs I made this FAWM, and "Graves..." was one of them. Now that you brought up Burzum, I think you gave me an idea on how to expand that track, so thanks! 🖤
Thank you so much! Yes that's what FAWM is about: Collaborating! I'm happy where the song is!
Cheers for the comments on "Got to Go", "This Galaxy Is Too Large for the Two of Us" and "Aseista riisuttu vainaja"! Your compliments really mean much :)
When Song Hamster tells you to do something, you do it!
Thanks so much for listening to Last Post . I felt I needed to write it and having listened to it through I think it will become a keeper. Much appreciate your comments.
I have to say that you are an inspiration to me in more ways than one. You really not only got out of your box this FAWM, but also smashed a guitar against it. Your vocals have really improved and you've shown a completely different side of your artistic abilities.
Huge praise coming from you so it's very appreciated!
You're on for next year, in fact I'm going to hold you to it! Haha
Hahahaha, everything in moderation. Especially civilization. 😍
Wow that was a quick comment! Thank you so much for listening and commenting on My Blue Broken Heart! You did so great with 26 entries (so far!) congrats - hope you had a fun FAWM! I sure did!
Thank you for the comments, man! Yeah, that kind of silly, stumbling, simplistic and raw black metal is very close to my heart.
Thanks for your kind and entertaining comment on Chthonic Triad! It got a laugh out of me 😀 Yes it was a great excuse to buy a new kit and I was not disappointed. Congrats on your FAWM win!
I ADORE TRoB as well! Flawless discography! I've seen them thrice now. They were playing last weekend at the black metal fest in Tallinn I told you about.
hahaha hellz nah 🤣 synth v baby
Thanks for the comment on "I Dread This Day"! Was fun trying out a skirmish for the first time. And also busy, hahah!
I think you would especially appreciate the Forevertron. It's very metal.
I didn't do it!!!
Yes and no :D Two songs are updates so I have 10 songs. I will receive one random collab, the digital 4 track and another song is in recording. I'm not sure yet if I will leave it like that or try to write a song 14 just to finish it off... cause I just received a TON of stem for last years projects...
I will catch up on your stuff soon!
Congrats for winning FAWM!
Glad we could do something together. It is always fun to see what you do with my stuff.
My gawd you’re on 12! Will catch up with listens soon! You still wanna collab? I’m in a real funk this evening and self loathing is setting in but from that, I had a small idea for a song that I’m tryna chug out on guitar. It’s not fully realised yet but lemme know if you want me to send it to see if you wanna play too :) no pressure if you hear it and no inspiration comes tho dude!
Continuing the discussion in the forums.... My being stuck is mainly because I cannot mimic my favourite bands, as they use alternate tunings that are not possible with a 6-string. I kind of regret not having bought that 7-string Schecter, but I can't buy a third guitar cause my room is too small. I'm still searching for songs that could push me more towards metal, that are actually playable for somebody with 2-3 years of practise with standard setup. It is frustrating to know the vision but not the steps to take. Wouldn't mind learning songs I don't know yet, but it should be something that vibes with me. That's why I gave up my lessons.
I love Franky Boy but it's hard!!!!
‘The closing of a brand new Queen song’ - wow that’s a high compliment indeed! Thank you!
Options for running away were limited due to the circumstances, I must admit.
But, in the end, amor vincit omnibus.
Thanks for the comment on "Horn-Crowned"! I may have needed some time to recuperate from my engineering stint, but I guess at least some of the band's vibe rubbed off on me.
Cheers, man! I'll raise a few pints for you!
I definitely am! I'll try to lay some riffs down soon. I'm leaving to Tallinn for this black metal fest called Howls of Winter quite early tomorrow, and will be back on Sunday, so I can't guarantee I'll get something done before that, but next week I'm on vacation, so then at the latest!
Thank you loads! I'm steeling myself (and reinforcing my monitors) in order to reciprocate! The chants are from an 8dio library for Kontakt: https://8dio.com/products/liberis-childrens-choir?variant=41309929275592
Yes, another! I'll email you
Feel like taking on a poisonous plant with me?
Thanks for the comment on "Flowers of Evil"! This was my first try with the genre even though I've listened to the stuff for a long time now. Glad if I succeeded with it, as I was a bit unsure myself...
Thanks for the comment on "Sewer Satan"! I simply love Elden Ring, though it was quite hard at first despite playing the hell out of Dark Souls and Bloodborne beforehand. Mohg is still a bastard and the sewer version doesn't even bleed, the bastard. Mighty fine source of inspiration, though.
Thanks for your kind words in regard to Here With Me. Hope we can collaborate this year.
Thanks so much, that's high praise!!
Hey I think I asked about a possible collab last year, so if you are up to it at all, I would love to do some vocals or cheap 80s synths for something :D
Thanks for the comments about "Watch Me Do It All", that one definitely grew on me and your comments helped me revisit it :) you may like the most recent one I just made if you're into the heavy guitars...
You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be tapping on your window 😝 I’ve only visited once many moons ago but Ad never has so want to come back with him in tow!
Ooh I have not but I see it has Barry Keoghan in who I love! I will watch it, thanks for the tip dude!
Cheers for the comments on "Larvae Altar" and "I Mean You Harm", mate! Hahah, I tried to be precise with the first one's liner notes! I've started a death metal band with a couple of friends, and it's been really fun dishing out those boneheaded riffs. Just love that music.
Thank you for your comments on my lyrics "After the Rain!"
