The Bird Outside My Window

by @peteralway

Liner Notes

On February 2, I woke to the song of a bird outside my window. It whistled a series of ten notes, repeating three times. I headed down to the piano, and realized they were the three notes of an F chord, repeated 3 1/3 times. I transposed them an octave or two down, so I could play them on the baritone uke, and they became the first ten notes of this instrumental. #instrumental #naturalsounds #ukulele #baritoneukulele

Oooh I can really hear it as a birdcall! I need to have my friend Emily listen and see if she would tell me what bird you heard. I love the chromatic slide of the arpeggios down. Lovely, Peter!

Birdcall a la Peter, with those fun harmonic jinks and twists that I've come to expect from you. :) Very nice!

This is lovely! I can hear the bird song in this, but I love you how built it out.

Well done!

Nice progression, good sense of gradually leaving the home chords and returning.

This is delightful! I want to hear you duetting with the bird now!

this has those funky weird peter chords and a funky weird progression i know and love so dearly! 🥰 if i showed this to emma, i wonder if she'd know what kind of bird was singing for you! i'll try to remember to ask her when she gets home from a work thing on thursday.

but yay for new peter songs! this is a great little instrumental and i can't wait to see what else you do this month 🤠

Oh yes, this sounds much nicer in this take, with a tiny bit more practice! A cool little natural moment captured in variations. I like!

What an amazing inspiration for a song - I heard this whole song "bird voiced" What type of bird was it? (probably will want a writing credit 😆 )
