One Last Bowl of Soup

Definitely going for John Prine vibe here. Inspired by a really beautiful/sad post I just saw on TikTok #folk #acoustic #acousticonetake #lofi #singersongwriter #americana

Lyrics

I broke down and cried today Packing up your things It’ll be two years come April Since you got your wings Somehow the world kept spinning But now there’s dust on the frames But I’ll see you again

Cardboard box construction Add it to my resume Not to be insincere Humor keeps the blues away 30 years together Packed in piles of paper squares I’ll unpack ‘em one day

Carolina is calling me I need a change of scenery Now all that our house holds Is packed up distant memories One last dummy check And I open the freezer One last quart of soup you made for me

One last meal together One last bowl of soup You made sure I was well fed And ready for the move Salty tears mix With one last bite of food One last bowl of soup

What a touching song, the last times we get to do something with a loved one, the comfort of soup, memories and leftovers you can’t store anymore.

ooo this rather nice isn't it.

Love the way the acoustic is distorting slightly, and it all come together so nivcely as its own kittle package.

Thanks for sharing.
