The line "I thought the headlights were heaven" came into my head... and actually laughed :-). St. Peter and Peterbuilt (Big Rig Truck Brand) and headlights and "The Light" came together in my head from the line, one night driving home... It all seem so ironically funny... so rolled it out and eventually ended up with the lyric below. Still rough and the outro needs work.
I really like the line "I thought the headlights were heaven" and believe that's the hook but it immediately gives everything away... Might be the start for another lyric.
Lyrics
Intro Psilocybin had me flying, like my mind had wings A streak of voices across the sky as every star could sing
C Saw a choir of glittering voices Streaks of stars could sing Each one for my life choices Hoping heaven, they will bring
V I Didn’t know it was my time St. Peter at the gates? Rolled on the gas I’m coming home Lord I won’t be late
Through the night I see the light Brighter near’r as I fly Please St. Peter find me worthy Lord don’t pass me by
C Above a choir of glittering voices Streaks of stars could sing Each one for my life choices Hoping heaven, they will bring
V II The light does part, with a sinking heart See there ain’t no saint, and know this will smart Then a sinful flurry of curses, and not a bit of guilt No F^cking Saint... No F^cking Saint... only only Peterbuilt No S.T., I don't see, St. Peter, only Peterbuilt
Outro Yeah, last thing I saw was Peterbuilt Warm, floating love isn’t what I felt Angels peeled me from the mangled mess I don't know... if I had to guess They gestured 'how?' that was their question I guess I thought the headlights were heaven

There's a demo now! https://write.fawm.org/songs/312962
OMG, Kevin. This had me totally engrossed. I love the story. V2 had me worried and then the outro made it all clear. I love the reveal. Very, very cool!
I LOVE this! Every line is so good, I feel like I'm watching a movie scene.
This could be a monster song! I could hear the cathedral organ and blazing choirs! It’s epic time!
This is great. I love the celestial chorus, and how that pairs with the reality and the brutal ending. I would offer to do music for this, but I feel like somebody who knows their way around a DAW would be better because they could really pump up the celestial nature of the chorus LOL. I'm going to start learning tomorrow or this weekend, but if I did this it would most likely just be an acoustic folky thing, as I expect the learning curve to prevent me from doing anything the quality this week. LOL. Anyway, I really really like this! I love that last line.
This tells a very similar tale to Kiss's "Detroit Rock City" but with more erudition and funnier gags. I love it!
