Path Under the Dilemma

Liner Notes

This was a fun one, done for @nwhosings's #WriteByDice challenge (https://write.fawm.org/forums/2927). I rolled a 1 on the d4, so just one constraint, and then got a 32, which was to write something through composed, which was a concept I wasn't familiar with, but is basically writing a song without repeated sections. I decided to do this one as just a melody on my #OctaveMandolin. I wrote out most of it, but the ending wound up being improvised because I lost the thread of what I'd written while I was recording it. The title came from #titular.

Quiet and gentle, finding its melodic path nicely.

Love the octave mandolin here. Writing a through composed piece is indeed a hard challenge! I really enjoyed where you took the melody around 42sec.. A solid one take.

Oooo, love the sound of this instrument! This is a cool result for the challenge, I have to say, I didn't expect something through composed to be instrumental, but it's lovely. Really, I have to listen to it again.

That's a cool challenge (is it still available for people to take up?) and I like the idea of a non-repeating instrumental melody. Yay for octave mandolin!

What a fun challenge! Was really interesting to see what you came up with on the octave mandolin and love that you did this in one take.
