Coasting

Liner Notes
I was prompted by the #reverb skirmish last night, but did not even come close to finishing on time! This production took all night. I journeyed down a few rabbit holes and back again, like our narrator. Really enjoyed layering these #surf rock guitars. These lyrics are a cross-country journey. There are two meta-narrative concepts I'm working into this album - one is real and one is a red herring. Maybe you'll figure it out!
Lyrics
I'm just coasting Through the night Left is the gas pumps Right is the ocean I'm just coasting Through the night Quick at reaction Wired for distraction
Coffee gets cold Knee on the steering wheel Coasting on cruise control Face in the cell phone light Unflattering in the night Ask me anything I promise I will not bite Ask anything you like
I'm just coasting Through this life Panhandle windmills The moon’s the next landfill I'm just coasting Through this life Stuck in the tin can I drive like a madman
Talking gets old Knee on the steering wheel Coasting on cruise control Face in the cell phone light Unflattering at night I wake up to the cattle yards Frightening in the dark Animal in a hot car Animal in a hot car Animal in a hot car Animal in a hot car

vibes on vibes! agree with Jenna about the moon/landfill lyric!
Loving the cake does lynch/1st season true detective vibes here. I love the lyrics in the second verse, esp “the moon’s the next landfill”. And thanks for your kind words!
Those surf guitars are excellent, they lend an ominous, casually cool vibe to proceedings. There’s something about reverb and tremolo together that just sings. And they work really well with the beats behind them, and a really classy vocal upfront. Really enjoyed this!
I really like the vibe on this. Kind of a Duane Eddy thing, but maybe if Pet Shop Boys was driving. All compliments. Love it!
Great guitars in the chorus! Nice song and vibe and feel.
