Lyrics

Sometimes I can be an early adopter One day I got a CD burner It must have been the first on the block Then one of the next things to take shape I made a CD just like a mixtape This boy knew how to rock

I was as proud as a computer owner could be Mixtape on a CD

I read it in a magazine right there on the page Suddenly Sharpies became all the rage The right way to label a CD The thin Sharpie was still plenty fat But no one ever complained about that It was the coolest thing to see

I got red, blue, and green ’cause the world had to see My mixtape on a CD

It seems like only a year or two later The Hannah Montana MP3 player Now I could cut out the middleman Now the tapes are all gone but on the shelf you’ll still see The mixtape that landed on a CD And sometimes I pull it down and play it again

It sounds just as clean as it ever could be Mixtape on a CD

Brought back all sorts of nostalgic memories for me. A really unique subject for a song, but a welcome surprise!

“The this sharpie was still pretty far but no one ever complained about that” was brilliant! Wonderful tune…

Im a sucker for storytelling like this and the little details, like the size of the Sharpie and being the first CD burner owner on the block. Nice one 🙂

@marthie

love your storytelling and the detail added with the color and thickness of the sharpies.
