Praying for Clear Sailing

the title came into my head on the way to work and just kept singing it over and over. Pictured the big pirate/tall ships of history. Got to the office and jotted it down... before coffee!!
Edit: Just reread and think it's kind of long... but hard to make that call without music.
Lyrics
Intro Praying for clear sailing Praying for clear sailing Praying for clear sailing every day When the sun sinks in the sea Hope that never will be me Praying for clear sailing every day
V I Praying for clear sailing Praying for clear sailing Praying for clear sailing every day Said farewell to our families Setting out on the high seas Praying for clear sailing every day
C When the sun sinks in the sea Hope that never will be me Praying for clear sailing every day
V II Oh Praying for clear sailing We’re Praying for clear sailing Praying for clear sailing everyday Stand in the rigging oh so tall Each one can hear the call Praying for clear sailing everyday
C When the sun sinks in the sea Hope that never will be me Praying for clear sailing every day
V III Oh We’re Praying for clear sailing Yes, Praying for clear sailing We’re Praying for clear sailing every day Please a clear night for our star Lead us as we go afar Praying for clear sailing everyday
Bridge? Our good Captain, a seaman’s sage A True guide when oceans rage Our wind whipped ship, storms guan-ta-let And cannonade of rain, Brings us to the clearing skies And we’ll be turning up our eyes Praying for clear sailing everyday
V IV Praying for clear sailing Oh we’re, Praying for clear sailing We’re Praying for clear sailing every day We see the gulls there circling high Know home port is nigh We’re Praying for clear sailing everyday
Outro Yes, Praying for clear sailing We’re Praying for clear sailing every day When the sun sinks in the sea Hope that never will be me Praying for clear sailing every day

This could be an awesome sea shanty for sure, the lyrics have natural rhythm that lends itself to hauling on the rigging. Good work, hope to hear this sung some day!
Another sailing song from kc!!! Well alright. The bridge is the highlight for me. Always interested to see the many angles you can weave out of this topic. Your well runs deep…
This sounds like it could be a Celtic sing-a-long in a sea shanty kinda way. Perfect for an Irish pub over a round of Guinness or two
Another very singable song! Strong use of repetition again! Message clear!
Hi KC, I really like this lyric and would like to see what I can do with it, if that's okay with you? One question though, what does 'guan-ta-let' mean? Cheers, Gwyn
I gave this a try with an arbitrary/improvised tune, and it was only 3:40, so not too long, though it could of course go shorter or longer depending on how you actually choose to sing it.
It's an easy rhythm to pick up, which is good in a sea song, although I did stumble on the bridge. The scenes you take us through are classic.
