Ron de Jean, Private Investigator
Skirmish: Choreography (@atornberg)Liner Notes
My son and I were walking home from his tap class when I saw the “choreography” skirmish prompt. I asked him if there are tap steps with cool names. He said “rond de jambe” and this character was born.
Lyrics
Gather around and I’ll tell you the tale Of one stalwart dancer who also solves mysteries Met him in night class, the James Bond of tap Somebody sharp could fill books with his histories Crimes on the moon? He’ll kick ball change in craters Name’s Ron de Jean, Private Investigator
Taps like a demon but also a sneak, Ron’s finding hideouts and busting up heists As calm in the brothels as he is on yachts He spanks and he slaps and he brushes and strikes Can’t buy him off, cause he’s no crooked traitor He’s Ron de Jean, Private Investigator
BRIDGE He riffles and ripples and slurps after clues This gumshoe with taps on his black, gumshoe shoes And his paradiddles strike fear in the feets Of the criminals dodging him on the mean streets
Always dressed classy, detecting or not He’s noir but he’s also a lord of the dance I spotted him once at a diner, disguised Working a case while he cramp rolled and pranced That’s a detective, kid, not a real waiter It’s Ron de Jean, Private Investigator

very imaginative --- I chuckled at this lyric - comes around nicely in the diner scene --- well crafted
Please let me know if this one gets music! Such a fun story. And a phrase new to me.
I would definitely read a book about Ron de Jean solving a mystery. I love how you managed to find rhymes for the name that fit in naturally with the rest of the verses. And the humor here is inescapable. Great stuff!
A truly talented person who can sneak around wearing taps on his shoes! What a fun idea. I love the waiter/investigator rhyme.
Now that was fun! Nice creative story telling from a simple prompt. Good job including appropriate terms from dance and crime stories.
So cool! "He's noir but he's also a lord of the dance" - very nice :)
You are such a creative and clever story teller with a wonderful use of language! This is a fun story !
Is there going to be a demo of this clever little ditty?
The rhymes with Ron de Jean, Private Investigator are so fun. It feels like beat poetry, I dig it
I love the name Ron de Jean. Certainly speaks to the prompt and I enjoyed the image of a noir detective cavorting around on the dance floor.
Looks like we've got the opening number of a musical I'd be very excited to see!
