Yellow Light

A little late to the skirmish post but here we go. I went with the "Yellow Traffic Light" prompt and thought of a former friend and this is what transpired. Not in love with it, but I think there's some pieces I might be able to use/expand on.
This was recorded as a voice memo as I do not currently have access to a DAW.
Lyrics
Yellow Light by Rachel Eve Feb 9 2025
Barefoot in your car we were Driving down that summer road Heartbreak chasing at your heels Dreaming of the great unknown
We were just 18 I wanted you to be happy But it never lasts
Racing through the yellow light You were always looking for a fight And I never took the bait But I pumped the brakes this time Told you that I wasn’t fine And I guess that’s not OK I don’t wanna have to be OK
Still I sing of summer roads See you in my dreams sometimes Think of where you might be now Remember how bright you could shine
Prechorus/chorus

Very concise lyrics, they convey the emotion perfectly. Well sung and played!
Lovely vocals. I like the chorus very much.
I love your vocals! The part about "racing through the yellow light" is probably young love, but I'm reading politics, too. Warning lights are flashing down in quality control. Will anyone pump the breaks?
This is lovely! Another song that took this title and dropped the "traffic".
I like it, though I am predisposed to country songs and tales of heartbreak. I hope you extract the parts you like and that it includes your lilting vocals.
There's definitely a lot of great stuff here to work with. It would have gone over well at the open mic the other night with the heartbreak theme! I hope you keep going with this one. I really love the prechorus in particular, so catchy!
