Seventh Heaven (Revisited)

Liner Notes
On Friday night i wrote an instrumental slide guitar track called '7th Heaven' which in turn inspired @johnkaniecki to write a set of lyrics with the same title. This is my new interpretation of his words which although bluesy, is very different to my original.
I recorded this on a Yamaha 8 track tape recorder, and the beginning section is the remnants of the music that was originally on the cassette. I liked the slightly surreal/ambient vibe it created, so went down this more psychedelic blues path for the rest of the track (whilst summoning as much inner Nick Cave as I could manage with the vocals).
The drums are by Liam and the rest of parts are performed by yours truly.

Lyrics
By @johnkaniecki (with some edits to help fit to the music)
Thinking back Jack you were beyond wise Love is a force the source over all lies What you saw in me I truly don’t know But life keeps on and I gave it a go
We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together We’ll be in the seventh heaven things don’t get better In the seventh heaven there’s always fair weather We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together
From Genesis to Revelation’s Amen You’re in the Spirt brother say it again I was a crazy boy tripping on stardust Hitchhiking with a sign heaven or bust
We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together We’ll be in the seventh heaven things don’t get better In the seventh heaven there’s always fair weather We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together
I was a world away when you went to glory A man of mystery Jack that was your story There was a secret like a sin forgiven We had the secret of the seventh heaven
We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together We’ll be in the seventh heaven things don’t get better In the seventh heaven there’s always fair weather We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together
You have to taste some hell just to get it out of your system When it comes right down to it there’s two kinds of wisdom You can live for today and the pleasures this world holds Or you can carry your cross and go where the streets are gold
Dancing with the angels on cloud nine Sipping the sweet sacred divine wine Forever well that’s a mighty long time Where music’s happy and all words rhyme
We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together We’ll be in the seventh heaven things don’t get better In the seventh heaven there’s always fair weather We’ll be in the seventh heaven laughing together

Ooh, is this the first analogue recording? To be completely frank, if you hadn't mentioned it, I'm not sure I would have called it. Very clean recording. In a good way. Very blues-y and I love the vocal delivery. Definitely get the Nick Cave references - could totally hear this on a Bad Seeds record, though maybe one made pre-Push The Sky Away. Feels like older Cave, not his current, more freeform incarnation. Though Wild God is a bit of a return to a more traditional song-based format, but it's lighter I would say than his older, bluesy stuff. Sorry, bit of a Nick Cave diversion, but you started it.
Probably the weirdest intro I heard on FAWM. Interesting that you decided to go blues right after. I really like this. Good feel and vibe
Thanx for doing this! It's an honor to work with you! A fascinating and funky interpretation of my words. Sounds great.
Cheers mate, glad you like the vocals @weekendsidehustle. Your drums definitely gave me a solid bass for this one! 🙏
This sounds great mate, love the deep vocals
Great bluesy feel and vocals. The lyrics are inspiring! I can see why you wanted to use them. And the tape sounds are very apt for the song. Brilliant mix and performance.
The opening guitar reminds me of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Long Time Gone. Definitely has the Nick Cave vibe, but bluesy. Well played by all and sounds great!
