Last night, me and my friend Arin (who some of you may remember as the guy who ran Ween Archived) were talking, and he showed me a cassette he found at a thrift store labelled "The Humor of LBJ: 25th Anniversary Edition". After some digging, it turns out that the presidential library of Lyndon B. Johnson (who I believe became president after John F. Kennedy's assassination) had put out a 40-minute CD/cassette of his humorous storytelling. Some of the titles felt like they called for songs written loosely in their image, so here's one called "Please Get Me a Drink of Water" if you're into melodramatic folk songs about being thirsty! I wrote it in like 5 minutes and recorded it in 10.

Also referenced is the title "[Winston] Churchill's Brandy" which is what I initially wanted to write to before turning to my friend Juno for advice (i.e. messaging her the back of the CD and being like "what song should I write from these?")

Lyrics

Please get me a drink of water I'm awful parched now, can't you see? Please get me a drink of water You're doing such a favor to me

I've had a glass of Churchill's brandy It's left me shaking at the knees Please get me a drink of water That's my one and only tiny plea

I've read around the paper daily Lonely people in the ground All like cows into the slaughter Please get me a tall, tall drink of water

Please get me a drink of water I'm awful parched now, don't you see? Please get me a drink of water You're doing such a favor to me

this is awesome! another fine addition to your collection of "bits-turned-songs". i like the weird stereo effect on the guitar towards the end of the solo!

I really enjoyed this one - that buzzy guitar is fantastic, what effect are you using there? I love where the inspiration for the song came from. Proof that inspiration can come from anywhere!

Fascinating back story. We can find inspiration in the weirdest places. It feels like its in an unusual time signature which is cool.
