Formerly "Jordan Sunlight", but I don't music as that anymore and I'm also a woman. Therefore - a person named Rose!
I have been almost exclusively recording on #4_track since March of last year, and this is not likely to change! Expect cool #lofi #indiepop goodness. Some of the assorted instruments I own include the BOSS DR-110, the Mattel Synsonics (both drum machines), the Casio SA-35, the V-Tech Rhythmic 2 (both tiny keyboards), a plastic bugle, an accordion, and assorted percussion and guitars likely to permeate my recordings.
Influences include: They Might Be Giants, JoCo, the Apples in Stereo, Ween, Logan Whitehurst & the Junior Science Club, my friend Marc with a C, Dogbowl, of Montreal, the Frogs, the Beach Boys, sElf, Guided by Voices, Cardiacs, the Beatles, Jeffrey Lewis, the Residents, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Rush, the Unicorns, and so many other artists that I've genuinely lost count.
Forgive the self-shilling, but I also have a CD available by way of (^_^) Records in Alabama, and it would mean a lot to me if you listened to it - it's six songs about my identity, my brain, and animals, and it's pretty darn cool. https://happyfacerecords.bandcamp.com/album/august-demo
--- OTHER RECOMMENDED MATERIAL --- @oilybastard: synthy alt-pop fella from Colorado, fellow needlecord musician @jaythejackalope: my epicsauce piano playing girlfriend @soapstone: bedroom psychedelic pop, similar influences to my stuff @makessense: internet homie and incredibly talented songwriter @theeverfreeforest: my band!

I'm all for digging deep into tape trivialities! I don't know the Porta07, but it looks a good'un. I love the process, and I really like being forced to do things within constraints, even if those constraints seem unhelpful! I just had mine serviced, one for the first time since I bought it second-hand about 30 years ago, and they sound so, so good now. I wish I'd done it years ago!
There are double-speed only people in the 4-track challenge, until last year I was double-speed only, and there were enough people around to make something work. Jump in! I can't help with you mailing issues though - I have no idea how that stuff works in the US!
Love your tunes... just bought the album!! Thanks!!
I'm so glad I clocked Beck, old Beck is gold Beck haha. Mellow Gold has such good vibes and I love the weird mix of tracks on it. Good luck with FAWM this year!
Ah cool! I'm also into the nostalgia of analog stuff
Love your first song! Looking forward to hearing more! 🐸
looking forward to some high quality, lo fi 4 track recordings. i used to work exclusively in that mode until my tascam broke down.
Awww, Lil' Penguin Lost sounds ADORABLE :D
I love both They Might Be Giants and lo-fi indie pop. Looking forward to your tunes!
Hello! Nice to meet you. :)
Happy almost-fawm. I'm intrigued to hear what you do!
I was always like "why is there no RoviaMon" as a joke when I lived in the 91010 and 91016 twenty years ago
Claremont/Montclair - clever? Or lazy? Let the discussion begin!
happy fawm to you too! i really missed a golden opportunity not making that my actual legal last name im such a fool - - - - _ - - - -
Also using tape machines for lofi ridiculousness. Nice!
Happy FAWM to you!!
Hey there and happy FAWM to you! I am really intrigued by your super cool instrumentation! I love that kind of thing and we need more of that here. Best wishes and we will be chatting I’m sure
hi rosie!!! super excited to see what you cook up this year. always love working by your side! mwah <3
Thanks for your kind words! I’m a big analog recording fan. Part of the challenge is just making and keeping everything working. Sometimes recording a simple song is a triumph if you’ve been troubleshooting gear for hours! Like @thedutchwidows I was shocked how good a 4track cassette can sound, especially with a nice front-end (Mic-preamp-compressor).
