Slow start, but I do have lyrics. This is not how I imagined, thought it would have a bluesy sound, but I can't seem to capture that on guitar, I can't play some cool keyboard bits, so it is what it is and I move on. This is written about someone who abandoned someone and how they perceive the person that abandoned them and how they move on.

Why make a thing of beauty and leave it to decay Can't you hold it tightly instead of pushing it away love won't be taken lightly when it's holding your soul or was leaving it behind all that you could control
chorus You don't know how to hold on, Abandon don't know right from wrong, Abandon You abandoned me, or did you set me free
How's a dream conceived without changing your heart when you saw what you've achieved did you want to tear it apart are pieces of you missing do you pretend that you're sound are the ruins of your life the thing that makes you proud
chorus You don't know how to hold on, Abandon don't know right from wrong, Abandon You abandoned me, or did you set me free
bridge I'll rebuild, find a new connection take time to heal, go a new direction find happiness and affection I'm done being abandoned
chorus You don't know how to hold on, Abandon don't know right from wrong, Abandon You abandoned me, or did you set me free
Outro Abandon, Abandon You abandoned me, or did you set me free You abandoned me, or did you set me free

Love the harmonies! What a cool groove, too - you're crossing genres here in ways that work so well. I couldn't tell whether this was blues, or some kind of modern country, or something else entirely, and that's actually a good thing - it's not the same old song. And it sounds like you. 😄
Good write the chorus is strong, a real nice R&B sound I can hear it done by a 60's girl group, good job Tammy
Super writing and that bridge is to die for girl! Love the melody and your performance!
Line 1 of the chorus is chef's-kiss! It's the perfect, succinct analysis: You don't know how to hold on. Being abandoned is so painful and perplexing. I'm glad the singer is starting to see that maybe she is dodging a bullet, maybe this person can never give themselves over completely. As such, it's not as personal as it feels (which is soul-crushing). Strong start to FAWM!
"You abandoned me, or did you set me free" -- that's a great line. You made some wonderful choices here melodically and lyrically and it all comes together beautifully. It's always a huge pleasure hearing your voice!
I really like the perspective on abandonment as liberation - it's very empowering, and reflected in your wonderful performance, too!
I love the phrasing here. Love the vocals. Really nice lyrics and the chorus is great. Real easy listen, everything rings true.
Lovely soulful delivery, the chorus is fab and the bridge is tasty, super write
Nice write! Exactly the kind of questions the one left behind asks themself.
Wonderful melody and arrangement carry the song forward.
Fabulous vocals, as always, and the percussion combined with the strumming of the acoustic guitar makes for a nice, rolling rhythm. Harmonies just lovely!
Love the positive spin from abandoned to set free. Break ups are always hard to deal with but they have spawned some great songs. Lovely vocals and playing. Great to hear you again Tammy 😎
Here is a song with great lyrics, and the strumming and accentuation of the lyrics makes it very special. So nice.
Ahhhhh!!! It's SO nice to hear you again!!!! This song is indeed kinda bluesy and, man I love it!!! I really relate to alot the sentiments in this tune, especially "You abandoned me, or did you set me free" that'so very awesome!! What a voice!! I rerally enjoyed the harmonies too!! Not many folks sound as excellent as you do with just a guitar backing!! Awesome Tammy!!
Loved it! I wonder if your back spasms contributed to the haunting pain which came through your voice? How ever you got there, it was a moving song. Thank you for sharing!
Ahhh, Nice. Very good singing and playing. The lyrical phrasing makes me think a bit of Stevie and Fleetwood Mac. The Chorus is So Good!!!!
while not exactly blues, your performance is akin to bluesy folk singers such as Melanie. i really miss songs like this, as they are rare these days. excellent structure and lyrical development, with a steady guitar rhythm and a voice that dips and rises as you soar through the melody.
Great melody and the lyric captures the emotional landscape beautifully. Repeating the word Abandon makes it feel more like a soul cry. Awesome stuff.
Catchy chorus. Those high notes are sweet! Sad that some people really do identify as the things that are wrong with them out the things they failed at. I think we all know those people though.
I really like your melodic choices, and your vocals are really well done - wonderful note bending and flexibility and just the right emotion. Nice backing vocals also. Such a good chorus, and I love how you used the song title in the song. Really well done.
Heartbreaking, and yet lovely too. Well done! ❤️
Great to hear you! Great topic, I know a few who have never recovered! Lovely delivery of an important issue!
Great to hear another of your terrific songs. Have a great FAWM.
Hello, Tammy. The opening line sets up the story and hooks the listener by asking what is happening and your choice of making Abandon your characters name is very creative. I was only wondering if you could find another to describe the singer's new connection. "I've found a new love interest, Connection." (Only a thought.) Hope to see more of you and your songs. 😄
A great first FAWM song for this year! I can hear the roots of a blues tune here, we'll just need to change up the guitar rhythm - time for your electric guitar!
Beautiful song and lyrics! I really your voice! Glad to hear you participating in FAWM again this year!
The vocals are outstanding here. The phrasing is so great. Love the lyrics too. Really dig this...
