Back Down To You

Skirmish: Big Band Jazz 🎷🎺 (@rahma_the_bass)Liner Notes
There was a skirmish prompt the other day about big band, which I love, and which I have zero ability to recreate in my home studio. I don't play any horns, and MIDI horns are just sad, so I had to approximate what I was hearing with a harmony stack (which is fine, but not the same). Had I left well enough alone, this would've been posted during the skirmish time. Lesson learned, I suppose.
Lyrics
If I could fly just as high as a mountain Maybe as high as the moon Maybe as high as the stars that we’re countin’ As evening follows afternoon
If I could fly like the birds in the sky Into the endless blue I’d still always come back down to you
Up there the view can take your breath away But when I look at you it makes me say
If I could fly to the furthest horizon It might be fun to do But I’d still always come back down to you

Fun little ditty, wnjoyed the vocals and the tune.
Love the chord progression, the doo-wop (ish) backing track, and the sentiment of the song itself. Great love song!
This is just delightful! Those jazzy stacked vocals are just so GREAT!
Completely nailed it. The chord changes, the phrasing, the AB parts, lyrics, the voices as horns. Love the ending.
A tranquil, laid-back write so lyrical on the page it packs a powerhouse punch of entertaining and how your delivery shines, @carlybear , in song for perfect soft-shoe.
And im stepping back in time! The lyric is timelessly classic and so well delivered over such a great use led track. The baddadudah harms are lush!
a classic already! I love how the melody swings. Wow, so good!
those harmonies are insanely good! Great song all around. I love the sentiment.
I can absolutely hear it on the radio when this music would have been popular. I can certainly hear it used in a film set in that time. Great work. Very commercial from that perspective.
Damn this swings!! The lyrics are perfect for the song and the vocals are sublime. Now 1/2 of me wants to go dancing and the other half wants to try my hand at the prompt.
This is so good. Love the harmonies and you've got the feel of a 1930's girl group. The lyrics really work for this genre.
Holy Moley. You have been holding out on us. You are extremely well suited for this style of music. This is awesome.
I'd argue that the harmony stack is the way to go! Another joyous a sweet tune, a tune to fall in love to. Great stuff!
This is super cool. A good, swinging love song that puts me floating down the street without a care in the world. Thanks for sharing this, I really like it.
Very cool vocal horns. Love the jazzy vibe. Another fun tune and approach to the skirmish prompt.
Outstanding. Might not be a big band but you captured a sound from the jazz era. It's a wonderful tune and the vocals are great.
I got mine done a couple of weeks late. Listen if you like: https://write.fawm.org/songs/314278
