When The Rain Fell

I was writing lyrics yesterday and this was one that I set aside. I don't think I sent it to anyone. (If I did, then I'm sorry, let me know and I'll make it up to you.) I was just going through the notebook and instantly got a melody for it. Received a melody for it, (thanks, muse.) Here's a quick guitalele demo.
Lyrics
There's a storm on the horizon I bet it's coming this way A perfect end to a shitty day
I see the dark clouds forming They're moving in the wind When will my bad luck come to an end?
I remember when the skies were all blue I remember when the moon would shine on cue And I remember when the rain fell on me and you
There' a raindrop on my skin Why does it feel so cold? And why do I feel this damn old?
I hear the gate rattling Wondering if the hinge will last Or if it'll break before the storm has passed
I remember when the skies were all blue I remember when the moon would shine on cue And I remember when the rain fell on me and you
I guess I should get into the house And sit alone waiting out the storm I will watch the slowly moving clouds Wondering if I'll ever truly feel warm
I remember when the skies were all blue I remember when the moon would shine on cue And I remember when the rain fell on me and you

Interesting how the guitalele colors this one. A do like the idea of how a storm is the perfect end to a bad day. Then whole scene with the gate rattling, hinge breaking, before the storm passed is lovely, really gives it that double meaning that frames the whole song. A sad tune for sure but remembering making it through the hard times is a sweet thought.
Ah tim bloody beautiful , and i actually hope you haven't sent it elsewhere, I can feel the power more of a song sometimes when its done in quick demo recording. But with this i can totally imagine sitting back at a festival and letting it float over me as i sip a summer rose. top stuff mate
I got drawn into this song with the line about having to be so old (I like the version you sang better than the lyric that's written; they're different) and then wondering if the hinge would break. I was right there living it for a moment. Nicely done.
