Last Flight Home

Liner Notes

I will let Doug tell us what this song's words are about but they do seem to have a slightly bitter edge.

And a choir, well why not courtesy of Choir Omina from Native Instruments

Doug: I think the "choir" works very well, David. Makes a cool song even cooler. Thanks for another great collab!

I see this as the story of a person who escapes the pain and suffering he leaves in his wake for a short vacation but now has to go home where no one cares about him because he has never shown he cares about them.

Lyrics

You got away from it all
So much to get away from
So many reasons to be here
The sea, the sun, the sand

An expert at destruction
You blazed a long trail of pain
Though paradise has been an escape
It’s time to go home again

(C)
You’re on the last flight out today
You wish you could stay just a little bit more
 No one is waiting
Not a soul will be waiting for you
When you walk back through the door

You don’t know why it all happens
 Whatever you touch slowly dies
You still see the hurt on their faces
 And hear their midnight cries

You needed this time away to forget
 The many things you haven’t
Broken yet
Cool breezes teased your skin last evening
You wondered if life has to have meaning

C)
You’re on the last flight out today
You wish you could stay more
 No one is waiting
 No one is waiting
Not a soul will be waiting for you
When you walk through the door

Yeah, I like this lyric and I think a lot of people could relate to this. I especially liked, "No one is waiting/Not a soul will be waiting for you." What a great way to express loneliness. @daveyboy103's music and vox capture the aimlessness of this guy's life. It's one of those songs that grows on you. Nice collab!

Not the sound I'd have expected to go with these lyrics, but it works! There's something about the pop sound that underlines the existential darkness in the words. Really like the descending melody on the chorus. Very catchy. Made me reconsider my life choices. Job done!

Pretty dark for Doug's lyrics, I'll have to ask him who the expert at destruction is :-). Nice music and nicely put together. Well done!

Couldn't tell what the "choir" was singing there...which is the problem with those choir samples (I have several myself, and I never get results I like other than "Ooo" or "Aaa"). 😉

On the other hand, I liked it when the "humans" came in! Great song! Well-produced! ❤️

Love the kind of Sympathy For the Devil Stones feel. Nice lyrics and fun tune. Also love your vocals and instrumentation. Well done!

those are some of the craziest back up vocals i have ever heard. i especially liked their presence in the intro. sounds like this is a day in the life of an international hit man. but with such pretty music and affable vocals, how can this be?
