Alakazam

Liner Notes

I heard Lady Gaga's new song Abracadabra this weekend and I thought it would be fun to recreate the song and call it Alakazam. I basically just mapped out the song structure and then did my own thing after that. I started writing lyrics to sing but I decided for no vocals because I can't compare to Gaga, haha. It was interesting to learn how complex pop songs can be! (pop stars also have a huge team of people helping them so there is that too) #techno #pop #electronic #ladybijou

Lyrics

Song structure: Intro, verse 1, refrain, pre-chorus, chorus, post-chorus, verse 2, refrain, pre-chorus, chorus, post-chorus, bridge, chorus.

Ah ah ah La la la Put a spell on you

Alaka Alaka Alakazam

Oh this is sinister, I love it! You absolutely nailed the dark club dance bop vibe. The synth sounds are delicious and driving! You build out a solid structure to the song, it has the cohesive variation I look for in these kinds of tracks. This is such a fun idea and you executed it perfectly. Great mixing too, everything meshes together so well while still keeping space for each part. Awesome work!

Really well done, has a solid structure and builds well, sounds great!

This is a catchy as heck dance track. And I don't even dance.

Killer production, tight mix, love all the synth timbres, o dang it's a dubstep break, wonky scratch, this is really well-assembled.

And grabbing the structure from pop is a time-honored pop tradition. Who knew how many breaks and bridges and post-choruses and post-post choruses and refrains there could possibly be!

ok so i've also had Abracadabra stuck in my head, so it's nice to get more of this art-pop sound in my ears. you SLAYYYYED this production!

Wonderfully layered. This has so many little riffs and melody parts coming and going. As soon as I start getting into one it changes again. Would love to see vocals on this could be amazing! You have created a great backing track already!

the beginning synths reminded me of lady gaga's paparazzi instrumental background! very cool

You work the sound very well. This is not my genre but I paid attention all through the piece which I reckon is a good sign. Thanks 🙏

I guess I should go listen to Gaga's version to get the full impression, but sod it, that would probably just go and spoil this for me. It's a really impressive mix with a gorgeous sound palette. I'm trying to do some electronic stuff this fawm and make it a bit poppy and I concur... it's BLOODY HARD 😬 So yeah, nice one!

@aeye

I know this took some effort after hearing the Gaga song. This is really impressive to pull off. I'd be curious to know what synths you used. That metallic bass sound is really cool.

Lots of great production skills! Would you consider doing a Rap type collab with me if I wrote the lyrics?(or whatevcer genre you prefer)
