Just Give Up
Liner Notes
i failed today. i couldn't write a song i liked. instead of making a total noise track i made this. it's almost a song. i almost like it.
this is number 14, so there's that. i might get a bit more experimental the rest of the month.
Lyrics
when the going gets tough, just give up

That bassline is really nice and gives the whole thing a bounce and attitude that I love. It reminds me a bit of Krist Novoselic's slidey, bendy strangeness, which is about as high praise as I can think of. The guitar solo is raucous and fun as hell, and overall I love this.
As as aside, it's funny to read someone's notes that make it sound like I'm going to listen to a 90 second hellscape and have to think of positive things to say, and I end up having a great time and am left wanting more. Hurray!
Full of attitude and spirit, it works!
I don't know, I think you got something worthwhile today despite your best efforts, ha! I like how this one phrase cycles through the whole thing, there's even a "chorus" of it which is really catchy and cool
This is what I tell my kids all the time!! Reminds me of that Homer Simpson line about ‘if something’s hard to do…’ 😂 Great noise making here, always love those double-time snare hits that you do to break up the rhythm. Looking forward to hearing the experimental B-side to this year’s Feb Album. Well done on the 14!
This is very cool. I dig the lyrics, they really feel poignant. Also, the music has an almost Matthew Sweet (Ming Tea) meets the Ramones feel to it. Kudos (or not, since you don’t like it. But I do).
Yea, I dug it! Rough and raw as music should be…though proper isn’t what I do, so…
Congrats on getting to 14. I like this, if that counts for anything. Agree with the Jon Spencer comp. Bring on the experimental!
Hey, sorry it didn’t turn out the way you hoped but this is a fun bit of Jon Spencer-esque stompy goodness. I really like the way you sing the last “when the going gets up” of each “chorus.” Good job making something even if it felt like you didn’t.
Those huahs automatically classify this as a song. Love the repetition of the lyrics. The slacker mantra of my dreams.
