idea machine

Liner Notes

I just wrote this crap into my journal and decided I like it, and since I'm brain dead I decided to just play it like it's a song and then I repeated my favorite lines (sentences) to make it more songy. It can be frustrating to want to pursue all your ideas and know that you can't because there's not enough time for them all. It's sad to let some go.

Sometimes dgaf phone recordings of wonky phrases is fine, and I'm glad I could include an ugly phone recording in my fawm repertoire this year.

Also it's nice to write down feelings like these because then that part of yourself gets to feel heard and those feelings tend to float by a lot faster. Highly recommend.

Lyrics

I'm an idea machine, always giving myself something to do. I'm mad. I can't relax. I can't work either.

How can I survive summer if I can barely get through this long weekend? I have work to do. I'm too dry. I'm brain dead.

I'm scattered. I just wanna play guitar and go to sleep.

I'm an idea machine Always giving myself something to do I'm scattered. I just wanna play guitar and go to sleep

Absolutely had to click on this after seeing the #sleepypunk tag. I didn't know what to expect, but this is just that: sleepy punk. Mind = blown. This is so nice. Calming really. Feels very honest and down to earth.

I just want to play guitar and go to sleep. Yes. This. Also I did not know SLOTHCORE is a genre which is awesome.

this is great, the background noises just make everything so authentic, if you were making an album this would be a great interlude.

The background sounds really add to the message of the song. If they weren’t planned, it is the best coincidence of the year. I love the idea of taking journal thoughts like this and just throwing them into a phone recording. Love it!

The life going on in the background really is a vibe. The quiet punk strumming and the way you sang this make it sound like that cool track you hear in the middle of an indie movie, and you're like "who sings this?", and next thing you know, you're a fan of Kimya Dawson.

You sound great and you got to play your guitar! Anyone can work in perfect conditions, but you did it in a challenging one. Your lyrics work and I love the chord change down to your chorus. I just wanna play guitar, too!

This is really nice, these lyrics hit hard. The quiet recording with noise in the background enhances the song, like you're trying express music and ideas even though the environment isn't giving you the best chance to do so. Great stuff!
